Hey SS,
I think you should GO!
I would, if Scotland were in it (I know, I know...). I would say cheer on England, but I'd be lynched in my country!
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -
I'm saying Go as well!
You've done so well to get so much paid off so quick - give yourself a break, I bet it'll be a fantastic experience with an amazing atmosphere.
Just get some hard figures on flights/accommodation and set yourself a budget for booze, etc.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
Hi SS, as a die hard Liverpool fan i would say this go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go. Look at it this way, reading your thread you have done superb, and what better motivation to inspire you to re-double your efforts on your return, number 2, you could get knocked over by a bus one time soon, then does the debt matter?
3) While we are all DFW advocates, it can become a chore if people don't remember to have a life also. No point saving all that money, and regretting not living your life in a few years. Go, budget for it as much as possible, and make a pact then to double your efforts up until xmas. Read the thread where the lovely young lady lost her nephew and her dad, life is just to short to not have SOME fun.
4) Give me the ticket lol.
Have a good one mate and make the right decision.

What would you like to say to your possible grand children on your death bed when you're old & grey? "Iwas there when England got through to the world cup final" or "I paid my debts a couple of weeks earlier & missed the greatest game ever"? I know what I'd do but perhaps I'm biased cos I'm a major football fan. Yes, even coming from Wales! CCFC are the greatest. Sorry, I'm rambling now!Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

I would definitely say go and have a fantastic time, everyone deserves a treat every now and then!
Think the 'go's' are winning at the moment!0 -
I personally hate football however i also think you should go if you can go for as cheap as possible and don't have to put it on a dreaded CC.
Sometimes we do have to grab life and live it but hopefully MSE has taught us all that we can still grab life and do it in a cheap and enjoyable way. You have done so well and can make it up somehow. Take a few hours to look at all the options available to you, get a real £ figure in your head and then make the final decision.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. DoneDoingDebt, it isn't rambling saying CCFC are the greatest, that's delusional. Have you been a tthe illegal tobacco again lol.0

Go to the game have a great time, you are doing really well with your debt and you have to have a life. (Can you call it your 2006 holiday?) I don't like football but I can understand the attraction of a big game in the world cup.0

I say definitely go - you'll regret it if you don't, and you can't buy back regrets no matter how much money you eventually save in your debt free days.
I also think you have to go wholeheartedly - not thinking half the time that you should be doing something else with your cash.
How about setting yourself some money saving goals to set off the spend - eg make some plans re how much you're going to spend out there, so you don't end up spending twice as much as your flight cost on beer/food/women/lucky Go England pants
And some goals for when you return - perhaps joining the storecupboard challenge for a month, selling those old books on Amazon, or that ZX Spectrum that's under your bed, that you love because it's a classic but don't really play any more?
It may be hard to find something, because you're already doing loads to off the debts, but perhaps there's something...?
Have a fantastic time! :j0
