Well I give up! I can't get the Christmas card list to open in any format I can read :o If anyone can get it to me via a message on facebook or somehow, I'd be really grateful. I wanted to do the cards tonight so I could get them to the PO first thing but that won't happen now! Oh well.

    Night all, sleep well xx

    No, No, yes,yes,no no!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

mudbath well done to your DS - enjoy your time away

those of you who were kind enough to wish me a nice day with my Mum -thank you so much but I am afraid to say that really wasnt on the cards and unlikely. At best it was going to be a 'nice' day with no meanness or nasty remarks.
Anyway we went - we had a horrible journey up with rain and rain - she wasnt impressed with our presents - she couldnt hide her true feelings from her face and even less impressed by the time we left:eek:
We had bought her a tv recorder/digi box - you know the hard drive thing that records programmes, pauses live tv and gives you loads of digi programmes and a 3 handset phone.
we had chocolate birthday cake to start with and she wouldnt have a piece because of her diabetes - well she is the same as me ther but i had a piece - it was really for the children's sake we had brought it but she wouldnt budge - normally she eats anything!
My bruv and I set up the tv box - disconnected an ancient video player and it all looked very neat - but wouldnt work - we knew she wouldnt get digital programmes for another few months - middle of next year i think but we thought she would still get terrestial - well it seemed that the box only accepted digi signals so it didnt do anything - she said she couldnt see the point of it but would leave it in place until there was a signal.

so we would reconnect the video player in the other room with a smaller tv in the meantime - after rummaging in the shed for another aerial cable- oh no the video player wouldnt work - no instructions - her bellowing that it worked fine in the LR and we should have left it there!!! we left it to go back to after lunch.

had a lovely lunch that my SiL had brought with us which mother said was 'nice' but I think she really meant - she was not impressed! She kept saying what a nice lunch she had at XXXX or XXXXX so i think she was disappointed we hadn't taken her out!!! which would have been impossible given that there was 7 of us and she was on crutches!!!

after lunch DB tried to do the phones - as he was plugging in the base station in the LR she announced that her phone had stopped working this morning - he plugged it in and then it went off - tried allover the house and all the phone sockets but no luck - so present number 2 useless!!!!
we did actually manage to get her present phone working - it was just a loose connection but have had to bring the new lot back for replacement.

back to the video player - still no luck - a visitor arrived to see us as he had heard we were coming so she was not impressed at someone stealing her thunder of being the important one!!! and proceeded to tell him we should not have bothered as all we had done was make things worse!!!!!

we eventually left about an hour later than planned and had a rotten journey of very slow moving traffic - my nephew wasnt very well on the way back so we had to stop - I managed to sleep some of the way and had a nap when i got in before catching up here!!!

her first words to me were ' how nice of you to come - you loook as if you have put on weight' she is obssessed with how i look and once would not go out with me as I had no hair ( when i was having chemo) even though i was wearing a scarf.
Today I kept very calm and was as nice as i could be - there were lots of swear words said between my DB and me out of earshot as we pulled our hair out!!! It got quite farcical in the end - we decided we should have stuck with a bunch of flowers:rotfl::rotfl: at least we decided we have given her loads to tell her friends about for the next couple of weeks:rolleyes:

so anyway we did our best and its over although i am sure we will never hear the end of it!!!

ok I am off to bed and will see you in the morning

love and hugs to you all

    Big hugs toots.
It is very draining, trying to remain positive, when others are so negative.
    Tomorrow is another day....
    Again, big hugs

I like the old saying that you can choose your friends but not your family

Try not to let it get to you,as you say you did your best, some people are never happy.

Toots Oh honey.....that sounds so like my Mother......we could never do right......everything was wrong in her eyes......& yes, she used to gloat to her friends about how "awful" her children were to her :rotfl: you have my sympathy.....thanks goodness for your DB...you need someone who "gets" where you are coming from;) My Mum passed away 18 months ago.....but I still remember that feeling of doom whenever I saw her :o that sounds dreadful, I loved her very much but I'm sure you know what I mean :D Try & get a good nights sleep now......big hugs xxx
