Anyone got experience of contraceptive implant removal?

I had my implant removed in October after having had it in for 1 year and being on depo for 4 years previously. During that time I did not have a period.
I have had it removed so that we can TTC. I had heard that it could take up to a year for AF's to start again. Since it was removed I had some bleeding after two weeks then a proper AF a week after that finished and now, just over 2 weeks later, I am having some spotting.
Has anyone else had an implant removed? If so, what were your experiences?

Hi
Kind of different here, mine "ran out" last October (i'm too soft to have it taken out, I'm really scared!:o).
However, my periods have just got back to normal this month, so taken 12 months.
Can I ask did it hurt to have it taken out???? I'm such a wimp.Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -
I am not squeemish or anything so may not be the best person to ask! It was numbed when they took it out so didn't hurt, I could feel a tugging sensation but that was about it. Later on and the next day there was a little bruising not nothing much really.
Good luck!0 -

I may go and stop being a wimp then. :rotfl:Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -
Iv had 4 of them now and while I hate having them put in it is not so bad having them out, only next time I have to have it in another arm which means making a new hole !!!
I will never have it out as iv had 16 years with no pmt's!!!!0 -
I've had mine a year... dreading it coming out. And more scars0

Mine runs out next April. I've had no problems - no periods since I had it put in (never had them on the Depo jab either) But since Aug this year I've being having small bleeds (no more than 2 days) and was wondering if my implant had stopped working
Apparently not, according to my Doc. Am considering being sterilised, but not sure if I'm too much of a wimp, and am unsure if I'll still get horrific period pains whilst not using this type of contraceptionLHS No 2220 -
I had my first one taken out after the three years, but had the new one put in at the same time. She made a new hole because the first was quite deep. I am a wimp lol, but it didn't hurt, just a very bizarre tugging sensation.
I didn't bleed for the first year, had a couple of bleeds over the next two years, and haven't bleed since the new one's been in.
I have two very small scars, was def worth it for me0 -
also, had depo a couple of times before the implanon- made me extremely moody (obv 3 months worth of hormones in one go)
both got rid of my horific period pain i still got on the pill0 -
I had mine out in the October of the year that we decided we wanted a baby. Nothing happened until the end of December, when I had a 3 week long period. After that, everything was back to normal.0
