Toshiba Cashback Terms & Condtions........Are they Unfair

They are not very fair for those ordering via the internet. Neither do the T's and C's compare very well with other Toshiba cashbacks such as the one they are running for their laptops. The buyer has to wait 30 days to register and then they have 30 days in which to register the product. That covers nicely any delays in delivering a laptop ordered over the internet as well as a generous 30 days to register.0

Again it boils down to Toshibas rules on who they want to give the cashback to. Cashback is a privaledge not a god given right.
Perhaps you could provide some proof that it is a privilege rather than a "God given right"?"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Looks like I've also been caught out by the Toshiba Laptop cashback offer
Bought the laptop from buyitdirect in November using Google Checkout. I carefully read the T&Cs (including the 30/60 day rule) and complied 30 days later by sending in the certificate and the actual despatch receipt (not a photocopy as stipulated) that I received with the laptop. I was concerned by the strict requirements so I sent an email to cashbackqueries 2 days ago (day 48) to get the following reply today:
Hi – I have checked our data and your claim is showing as invalid because you have submitted an incorrect invoice. You will shortly receive a letter advising you of this and giving you details of how to progress. I'm sorry I can't help you more at present.

Thank you.
Well I'm quite certain I complied with the T&Cs so I've replied giving them 48 hours to resolve this before I contact CAB, Trading standards and send a letter of complaint to Toshiba UK.
It looks like it is a marketing company called fotorama that administer this offer for Toshiba. If enough people have issues then this marketing approach could easily backfire on Toshiba so hopefully they realise this and will fix the problems.
I'd be very interested to hear of others with similar problems.0 -
Nice result. And it contradicts what Amazon told me last night that they would not under any circumstances offer such a refund.
Not sure what's happening there. The thing is, I never actually asked them for a refund!
I explained the circumstances of how I had been refused the cashback by Toshiba and merely asked for their opinion on it. Their return e-mail made me an offer of £50 to compensate for missing that offer. That's it! All I know is that they paid £50 into my credit card account on Tuesday morning.0 -
The best thing you can do is to phone P&MM direct on 01908 352000 they have someone who deals with cashback claims and you can talk to a real human being!

OK I've now had a reply telling me they need an invoice and not the despatch receipt. I called buyitdirect who told me that the invoice that they emailed to me would be ok. But I'm still anoyed because the information on the despatch receipt and the emailed invoice is almost identical and the T&Cs do not make this clear:
Quote from T&Cs part 9, third clause:
”Original proof of purchase (e.g. a receipt or invoice) dated within the promotional period, clearly showing your qualifying Toshiba laptop purchase details”
Anyhow, I attached the invoice email to my email reply and gave them permission to print it in their office if required and we'll see what I get back next.
I only bought this laptop due to the cashback offer and I would not have bought it if I'd known they make it so difficult to get the cash.
In future, I'll be very careful to review the T&Cs before going for one of these cashback deals. If the T&Cs have strict time limits and conditions as the Toshiba offers seem to, then I'll stay away as it probably means it will be hard to get the money even when you do fully comply with the T&Cs.

You talk like "ZOMG THIS CASHBACK IZ MINE I EARNED ITZ" (God given right) however the company didnt have to offer cashback, the company can set their own terms for cashback and if you dont follow them you don't get the cashback. Cashback is a bonus not a right!
And you talk like a drone who works for Toshiba. If they offer a cashback they should make sure they offer fair terms, unlike their current policy of offering one set of much more favourable terms for laptops and far more restrictive ones for their TV's.
Toshiba could take a leaf out of Sony's, Canon's and Nikon's book with regards to offering conditions that are fair."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Thanks for the number. I gave them a ring and they referered me to Nigel Evans at Toshiba customer services, who I have already written to."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Just got an e-mail from Amazon and they have agreed to refund £50 to my credit card, the same as they did for Claretblue
So a big thumbs up to Amazon, especially as they were under no obligation whatsoever to refund a penny as it was not their cashback offer.
Meanwhile, no reply from Nigel Evans at Toshiba, despite having written to him two weeks ago now. Amazon have demonstrated customer service par excellence, but Toshiba have shown themselves, to date, as incapable of understanding the meaning of customer service. I very much doubt I will be purchasing another of their products anytime soon."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
