Toshiba Cashback Terms & Condtions........Are they Unfair

I also bought a Toshiba LCD TV during this promotion. Registered it at the website, printed out the details and posted the required forms.
A week later I received a letter refusing the application stating that I didn't register on time (24 hours late).
They stated that "Amazon customers should use the Order Confirmation Date, instead of the Invoice/Delivery Date." Which doesn't make any sense!
1- In order to register at the website, you NEED the serial number of the TV.
2- You only GET the serial number at the time of invoice/delivery (which in this case was 4 days AFTER the Order Confirmation Date.)
3- I missed the deadline by 1 day.
This sounds like someone trying desperately to wriggle their way out of a legal agreement.
Anyone else agree?0 -
I spoke to digitaldirect.co.uk who I purchased my TV from and they've said that they are aware of the issue and have sent Toshiba a full list of purchases and that Toshiba should be contacting me in the next couple of weeks.
"Do I need to do anything else?" I asked
"Nothing" replied.
We'll wait and see. Possibly worth contacting where you bought the TV from as they will have had to have some kind of agreement with Toshiba to promote the offer.0 -
Sorry to see I'm not the only one to have fallen foul of this promotion. It does perplex me to see Toshiba offering one st of conditions for their TV's and totally different ones for laptops. I think I will contact Amazon to see if they can assist."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

I'm not surprised to see I'm not the only one caught out by this cashback deal. My dispute is with the term "within 7 days". I made a purchase on 4/11 and registered on 11/11. They are claiming that is the 8th day and so it's invalid. As far as I can see, if i bought it at 10am on 4th and registered at 10am on 11th then that is within 7 days by any definition. I'll be very happy to take this to the small claims court if they still try and argue.
I'm using this emil address: Rewardpromotions@p-mm.co.uk and they gave me this address to write and complain:

Anyone have any success with complaining so far?0 -

That's the same as I have just got after e-mailing them. A letter went off in the post first thing this morning to Mr. Evans and I'll wait and see what he has to say.
What about the issue of the issue of a certificate of registration? If a person registers out of time, why would they still issue such a certificate?"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Really you would do that? You are not effectively owed that money, Its a gift you get if you comply with their terms and conditions, I got my cashback registering on the 7th day.
Don't the conditions have to be fair though? Especially when you see Toshiba using totally different conditions to claim cashback if you have purchased a laptop.

I emailed Amazon for their opinion on this matter - their response;
"We will be happy to issue a refund of 50.00 GBP refund on the order cost which is equivalent to the 10 % cash back offered by Toshiba".
What should I do?0 -
Can't believe you even consider there is an issue? Take it. Why wouldn't you?0
