my first time :D There's only 2 of us and a cat, so god knows why I can't get under £40 a week....

I think you should maybe cut yourself some slack here, I know you don't have many supermarkets around so cant pick and choose bargains, and its not always easy to change shopping/meal habits when you have other people to cater for - baby steps...... ;)

... and shouldnt you be knitting? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    Ooh a lovely new thread.....

Thanks Pink, Helen and Rosieben, I would be lost if you weren't here.

I have started the month with an NSD:j:j

On the spreadsheet thing - I have one which I use, it is one I created over the past year or so. It adds up how much I spend in each shop and gives a running total. I started it in August 2008 as an excercise when I was sent on an excel course and it has evolved over time.

Oh has just brought me a bowl of choccie ice cream - yummm:D

Evening all, just declared on the November thread. Not planning on going into a supermarket until Thursday (watch this space).

Could we be put down for £150 again please. This is for all food, toiltries etc for 2 adults and 2 cats.

At the moment we are averaging £150 per month, which IMO is quite good.

  • I've looked at my current situation and it's looking scary, particularly after last week's daft splurge. So this month I need to keep to the grocery budget and even better, to come under by about £10 if I can.

So £40 for December please Helen.

This will take me up to 28th December and I need to also provide a posh breakfast for 8 on Christmas day out of this amount.

    :hello:

This will be my first attempt at this challenge if you will have me! :D After doing NSD challenges for a couple of months and seeing siggys with GC in them I decided to pop over for a nosy :p

There is just me and Mr Coffeeholic and our gerbils, lord knows how much we spend on groceries and household bits but I'm going to set a first attempt target of
£200 for the month please. I'm liking all the ideas of how people are recording their spends on a spreadsheet, calendar etc I'll definitely be doing something similar or I will lose track.

I'm off to read November's thread for inspiration and ideas and those lovely links on first posts now. :)
All the coffee in Columbia won't make me a morning person... :D:p

  • I very much doubt I'll get any change from £400 in December. I dont go crazy but I will be cooking for a crowd at least twice as I do a traditional Italian christmas Eve as well as the Day itself. It wouldn''t be the same any other way. And will probably have friends round for meal before the New Year.

    Evening ALL!

No time to shop today, so dispatched DH for eggs and icecream. DGS coming for dinner tomorrow, so we must have icecream.

Been so busy cooking today, 4 HM Cottage Pies for Freezer, 2 Apple Cakes, "2 Xmas Puds! and 1 Xmas Cake! Yippee!:j and 1 loaf of HM bread, plus dinner for tonight. Also yet another bag of apples prepped for the dodgy freezer and it's the last bag :j The tree is now empty.
Pheweeeeeeeeeeeee, I'm shattered. Good luck with the December budgets everyone.:xmassmile
