  • Hi All,
I've been following the thread for a few months and have finally decided to join in - going to go for £100 in December. There's only me so should be doable!

December for me is £550 please

I will try and make more of an effort to keep my total updated this time - failed miserably last month although I didn't overspend I just wasn't sure of the pounds and pence.

I need an easy way of recording all the amounts spent - might try keeping a note in my phone or something......ideas on a postcard !!

Well, my month doesn't technically start until Monday, but I was near the Co-op today with time to kill, so I'm logging my first spend of December.

    I bought;
    a 4pack of tuna (£2 special offer = a months tuna pasta),
£2.94 worth of corned beef off the deli (looked really nice, and gives me 4 weeks of corned beef pie),
49p on a reduced loaf of bread, along with 71p on a tin of beans and sausages, which does beans on toast (with bread to spare for the Monday packed lunches),
and the balance of 85p on 4 Milky Way twin-bars - supposed to be on 4 for £1, but for some reason it takes off more - weekend treat for while we all watched Star Wars :)

So that's 10 meals (for 5, once I've bulked up from the storecupboard) and a treat for £6.99 :)

managed to get some whoopsies, and in particular some whoopsied dishwasher tabs, 38 finishpowerball ones for £4!

ive got a freezer packed to bursting now and plenty of tins etc in, so hopefully we will find it easy this month

time to go update my signature, and hoping for an NSD tomorrow :)

Having spent a grand total of £12.63 on the first shop for December last Monday, I haven’t spent any more grocery money whatsoever! :D I am pretty please with that, as I want to keep it as low as possible for this month.

Am working on a small list for next Monday for the second week, but that is currently sitting at under £6. I don’t need to do Christmas, as DD will be at her Dad’s & I’ll be at my parents, so I don’t need to get anything in for this.

Yes I echo your sentiments. BIG BIG thanks to Pink, Rosieben & Helen Jelly. Where would we be without you???????? Thank you so much for all you do. :T:T:T:T:T

In answer to jc2703, I have a separate bank account for my food budget. I transfer my budget into this account monthly and thus can see where the money is going ..... I dont get cashback as I forget and then wonder why I have spent so much in a particular supermarket.....

I also created a spreadsheet on my pc. Ive set it up so that as I spend money, the total available (which I have in big letters) decreases.

Over the last week, I have been recording everything I spend to see where money is being wasted and I will probably do this for the whole of December. I also have a tin where I store all my receipts. Ive been buying lots of unnecessary things recently so I need to get on top of this. Once ive shocked myself enough on how much Im wasting, I will just record the shop and the spend.

I havent done too well with the grocery challenge this year but from December 01, im determined to get on top of my spending and do much better.
