    second shop of the month,

got a joint of pork for Sunday, plus some reduced lamb chops and some reduced burgers, bread and sandwich bits.

    not quite £40 as standard.

Do any of you guys like Reggae Reggae sauce? It's mine & my BF's favorite. We mix it with cream and make a sauce for chicken and pasta.

I'm in love with Nandos Peri Peri marinade. I just use it like ketchup & coat everything in it - salads, chips, & in sarnies

I love the black Xtreme peri you can get in Nandos restaurants, but can never find it in the shops :(

    Hi,
Can't decide whether to go shopping at Mr T's tonight or tomorrow - have a busy day tomorrow (hair cut/Xmas shopping/cinema) so am trying to force myself to do it tonight.

I have a list and meal plan so it shouldn't be too painful its just making the effort to go after a long day at work, walking the dog, cleaninbg the house and doing the washing..... Who'd be a woman eh?

If I do manage to move again I'll report the total later on.....

Reggae Reggae sauce is like a spicy ketchup I suppose. Hope this helps!

I haven't heard of that before but it sounds yummy, will have to look out for that. My OH always coats everything in ketchup: curries, pasta and probably Sunday dinner if he could get away with it

My fridge and freezer and cupboards are now full to bursting, so I think I might have a go at doing a week's worth of meal plans. It's just deciding what to do with it all...I'm hoping everyone's super-organised planning ahead will somehow rub off on me eventually! ;)

All the coffee in Columbia won't make me a morning person... :D:p

Had a NSD today as I have been busy in the Kitchen getting ahead for Xmas.:j

Made some Xmas chutney, enough for us and also a couple of extra jars for friends and family.;) Also made some Cranberry relish and got some fruit soaking in Rum to make Delia's Xmas pudding Ice cream. Feeling very festive in here now and starting to feel more relaxed about things now I know I can tick some things off my to-do list.:o

Not planning to go near any shops until at least Monday, got everything in we need for the weekend - have a good weekend everyone.:D

    Evening, all

I've gone and spent another £15.20 today at the market, but I have come back with some bargains, so I am one happy Kitchenbunny :D

For my money I got a 1Kg bag of grated mild cheese, which I have divided into 8 smallish portions which would last us about a week, maybe two. This is in addition to the two pizzas wearing a nice coating which are currently in the oven. ;) So, we're not likely to need any more cheese this year ;)

I've also bought a ham for Christmas. It's a slipper joint and cost £6, but looks like it will keep us in cooked meat for aaaages. I do love gammon/ham fresh from the oven. Mmm.

And I got over a kilo of steak mince for £5, which is always nice. I've split that down into 6 packs of 200g which will do us nicely as the meat part. 12 meals, maybe more if you count the leftover lunches then, from this - great!

Finally I got a dozen free range medium eggs for £1.50.

I love the market! Tea tonight is a couple of homemade pizzas with the sauce made from leftover passata from last night with some garlic and herbs in, topped with some grated cheese, onions, mushrooms, and bacon bits - bliss!

Right, I'm off to update my sig. Have a good evening, everyone!

    Kitchenbunny xx

    Afternoon All,

Thanks to those who suggested alternative recipes containing beef mince. Will definitely give those a go.

Have just discovered that we have a MrL only a 7mile round trip away! (have only lived here 5 years!). To explain, there's a MrT Extra 200yds from my front door, and a decent sized MrS about 400yds from home, so don't need to venture too far for my shopping.

Can I ask what other posters would recommend from MrL? There's me, DH, DS1 (10), DD (8) and DS2 (5). Anything family meal orientated would be great. Just don't want to have a wasted journey on Monday. It's my only free morning next week, so want to use the time wisely!

    Thanks peeps.

    My favorites
    - the Orangesaft orange juice (concentrate) for 60p
    - the Frozen Hake £2.19 for 4 good sized portions
    - free range medium eggs 99p
    - Choco moons cereal 99p
    - kidney beans 20p
    - baked beans 29p
    - coleslaw 60p
    - milk chocolate bar 49p
    - cherry plum tomatoes £1.00 but were 50p yesterday
    - jams about 70p I think
    - muesli and crunchy cereal - both about £1.20-30
    - crusti croc crisps - <10p a pack (22 in bag)
    - european cheeses (emmenthal, edam) seem cheap <£5 a kilo, but don't know what they are elsewhere
    - freeway cola light - 39p a 2l bottle - we prefer it to real diet coke
    - fish fingers were quite good about 10p a finger box of 15

They also have loads of europeany stuff - pickled fish, kabanos type sausages.

If you want to indulge yourself, their ready mean Thai curries and Indian curries are £1.99 for a good size dish with good chicken and plenty of it

Like I said in yesterday's post - I feel I traded up from Tesco's not down. Only point is they don't always have everything, so I try and stock up before I run out just in case

lots of special offers - look around + excellent xmas stuff - stollen £1.79, biscuits galore

    Good luck

  • hello all

today bought the tesco hazelnuts (down from £1.70 to £1 a pack), x 3, as snack on these and use them for hazelnut meriganges (please excuse my appalling spelling .
also bought nice vanilla icecream (guests with children coming to tea) there for £1.50 a litre. had not thought about the price before but checked there as morrisons have the kellys cornish at £1.50 a litre on offer so wanted to match or beat that.
at the petrol station the pringles grabbed me so there was an unneccesary spend, thought i might put at least half of them out in a bowl when guests arrived but were gone within 20 minutes of leaving the shop -!.

  • I found you! Can you put me down for another £300 for December please. Should be Ok as we don't tend to go mad on food over Christmas, although DD1 is coming back for a week so I'll be going up from 4 to 5 mouths and DS has just announced he wants to start 'bulking up' and wants a high protein diet. I'm sure it's do-able on the budget. This wouldn't be a challenge if it wasn't a challenge!!
