I'm also in the doghouse with the children as I forgot to get advent calendars - bad, bad Mum
Me too.. got to go down town this morning to see if I can redeem myself. Mind you it was a half deliberate forget as I think they're a rip off!
Had to buy fish fingers and chips yesterday afternoon as I realised I hadn't got enough food for the kids tea before the Tesco shop arrived at 8pm. Another meal planning triumph!:wall:
Tesco shop was £106.24 so we're well stocked up but they bought the wrong sort of noodles which is a disaster in this house - we only like the cheap ones and they substituted Supernoodles! So they had to go back and I have lost one of my best chances of a NSD as I will have to go to Asda today and get some.
I have managed to put together a 'flexible' meal plan for a fortnight so lets see how it goes!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -

I still have an advent calendar ! but I bought a material one from B*q a few years ago and it gets dug out every year and filled with c*lebratio(s. My tin cost me £5 this year and leaves me plenty of chocs left over to nibble over xmas. I also the other day bought a tin of q*ali*y s*r*et for just £4  so a few quality street this year to make a change. Yes I agree they are a rip off. was in T*orn**ns the other day and ok it was their large advent calendars but they were £5 / £6 odd each
I think they were b2g1f but £12 odd for some chocolate???0 -
Morning everyone - hope you are all well.;)
Can I just ask when you all use vouchers do you add into your GC what you have actually spent or what you have handed over in cash - I have used 2 L!dl £5 vouchers but have included them in my GC total - only asking now as I never seem to have been lucky enough to have any vouchers to use before and I now have a Tesco voucher to use so thought I better ask before I confuse myself even more.
Still working my way through the Freezer contents so tonights Dinner is some Free Range chicken legs with a jar of cook-in sauce found lurking at the back of the Cupboard, shall probably serve it with some rice for a change and some samosas from the Freezer - think we are going to be having some unusual concoctions before we make enough space!!
Off to check out the recipes on the front page to make a nice Pud for tonight, the weather is really Wintery now so want something nice and hot to keep us warm.;)
Hope you all have a good day.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Flat Eric - Perhaps if I'm lucky I'll find some reduced calendars - or is it a bit soon?
This would all never have happened if Woolies had still been open!!:sad:August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
REALLY CHEESED OFF!!
I booked a MrT delivery for last night 8-10pm. They phoned at 10.20pm to say they were running late (you don't say...) and would be at least another 45 mins, so I cancelled the order. Have sent a stroppy email.
Not a happy bunny coz it's like old mother hubbard in our house right now and I will have to go out today to shop. I'm expecting a 15 box Avon delivery and it's raining heavily so I'll have to wait in for that before (hopefully) doing the supermarket run. So annoyed .

Re: Advent Calendars I have 4 of the big wall hanging jobs in the loft & usually put a chocolate coin in each pocket for all the kids (probably why I forgot to buy them). But with the youngest dog being here this year - a 14month old eat anything thats not hidden Labrador in the house this year I've decided not to put them up
Susie, the dog, has already eaten 5 boxes of Maltesers that DS2 bought for his friends, wrapped & put on a fairly high shelf in the bedroom :rotfl: He wasn't laughing like I was though there were lots of mutterings of 'Bl***y dog I hate it' and the like from him!
I'll get the blasted things today and they can all stop moaning at meI'm banning them for over 18's next year so that cuts two out straight away

Sorry I'm late, not been shopping to be honest, so haven't really thought about it.
First shop of the month,
Iceland - 6.75 (fish, chips, veg (can you guess what we had for tea?) micro rice) not a great spend, but to be honest I avoided going out in the bad weather till I ran out of veg then decided on fish and chips as a convenience meal. 1/3 bag o'veg and chips in the freezer and not touched the rice, so only about £1 a head for the actual meal and quick at that.
Iceland followed by a trip to Tesco - 0.50 (value mince) I get decent mince from the butchers if I'm doing anything nice with it, but I'm making a Chilli/Lasagne base so quality of ingredients less important after slow cooked.
Got 3 rolls of wrapping, 3 christmas oils, and 3 stockings from m&s with the free delivery code (approx £15) and that should be the last of the cristmas spend until the food itself.
Got the goose already (in the freezer + one for new year), so will need potatoes, veg, making cake so need some ingredients, got bacon and sausage (in freezer) got pastry, got mincemeat.
not bad really...Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

Popped into the Co-op this morning - a little earlier than planned, but have sick children at home (one just gone back and now the next one's off), so took my chance while I could.
Tea for tonight in the form of a reduced loaf of Warburtons and a full price tin of beans & sausages, a few reduced bits for the poorly appetites that should last the week, and bunch of bananas (for bananas in custard - ultimate comfort food) came to £5.78.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Just quickly updating signature before I unpack the shopping
£69.39 this morning which was good except it could have been £9.80 less as that's how much was impulse buys :o I couldn't resist some german smoked ham, sliced roast beef, big tub of Onken peach/passion fruit yoghurt and another choccie bar
I shall enjoy them though & not feel guilty as it's still under my weekly target.
Need to go to Asda later and pick up some more bun trays for mince pie making & some mens deodorant which I shall look for offers on as I need 2 at least.
Be back later0 -
Morning all
1st grocery shop of the month cost me £47 which I wasn't expecting at all  but I did buy lots of store cupboard stuff which I am hoping will last me a good while before I have to replace it. I don't intend shopping again (here's hoping) until at least the middle of next week unless its little stuff like loo rolls, bread, milk etc. That leaves me with £153 for the rest of the month. I might have to stock up on that 50p value mince though, I'm imagining it doesn't taste any worse if I do something with it in the SC. Bought lots of fruit and veggies as I realised that our diet is so studenty, I'm having probs remembering the last time I had a proper meal with veggies in.
I haven't done any meal plans yet, but I will get around to it eventually! All the coffee in Columbia won't make me a morning person...
