Hi all! This is my first post on the December thread after failing at November (totally forgot to add all my spends up!!), so hello everyone!
I'm going to go in at £160 please.
That's £40 per week for all food, toiletries and cleaning products per week for 2 adults.
This will be my first proper go at the challenge - maybe December isn't the best time to start, but no time like the present!!

Ha HA, take that, December planning. I have just done a WHOLE MONTH of menu plans, and here is my link to a beautiful pdf I made myself (not too prideful, am I?!) https://acrobat.com/#d=X5DEsHDNQ3tAfST9z*bhPA
Now all I have to do is the bits of shopping round the edges to make sure I have everything that's planned. This covers me, the husb, 2 smalls, and then an additional 2 grown-ups, (otherwise known as 'the outlaws') for Christmas, Boxing Day and the day after. Oh, and my Mum and Dad for brunch on Christmas Day. Don't ask, its complicated!

Argh, first shop of the month and my jaw has dropped already
We went to Tescadiddles for the weekly shop and it came to a whopping £62.02, which I'll add on my signature in a mo. We did buy lots of stuff which will probably last us over December, thankfully, and had to buy razorblades for DH which boosted the total massively. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been that bad. *sigh* Which leaves me £117.98 for the rest of the month if I've done my sums right.
I think I got everything we needed. There are going to be a couple of changes to the mealplan owing to not feeling like what was on the plan (I had tried to do too many noodle dishes in one week!), so the revisions will use up what we've already got in. I'm thinking a pasta dish with a smoky bacon and tomato sauce on Thursday night, instead of the sweet and sour pork I did have on the plan. I love that, so mmm... And I already have the stuff in, so that will be set. Yeah.
I'll have to buy some things from the market on Friday - mainly eggs (I'm going to get 24 as last time I went there they were sold for 75p for 6 free range eggs, and I need to do all my Christmas baking), but also to get the steak I mentioned and some nice veggies. I think that should come to about £15 - we'll see how accurate my guesses are on Friday! In the meantime I shouldn't be spending anything in the next day or so unless I have to buy a hot cup of tea at the bus station to keep me warm. Must dig out my flask. *mental note*
I am really grateful for the encouragement the Grocery Challenge provides. I can't say I've ever been within my budget, and I get really upset when I can't and don't look like I'm going to meet it. Thank you (((hugs)))

Spent £28.88 today in Morrisons. Don't think I need much more for the week. Maybe a loaf of bread & some fruit & veg.
DD has a friend coming back for dinner tomorrow night so shall go thru the freezer & see what "orange" food I have! The kid told me she was a veggie, Spoke to her mum & she isn't lol! Little monkey! Makes no odds to me as I was a veggie till about a year ago, but I now also eat fish.
Kitchen Bunny, look at my sig from October, lol!!!! You will get there x

first grocery spend of the month included cat food £5 and carrots (reduced from £1 to 20 p :j)
As previously mentioned, I have T***o coming on Saturday and I have ordered only what is needed for my meal plans next week plus fruit and yogurt (which I have for breakfast).
It soon adds up though. I wish their system showed you the price after the offers had been deducted.
Its above £50 now (had to cancel order and start again) but it means Im taking advantage of the voucher. Previously I hadnt added my fruit and yogurt so it went above £50 anyway. Ive also added 5 x radox bubble bath :eek:which at £1 each will make a nice gift for my friend (cheaper that B%%ts 3 for 2 gift sets) I did this last year with some of my female friends and it went down really well. Like the meal plan for the month posted by rowsew. Think I might sit down and plan for the month. Ate my first mince pie of today :j and my first advent calendar choc. Happy 1st December everyone. :xmastree:

Does the OH have Gillette Mach 57 types of blades? Cause to be honest, I've moved my hubby over to the Aldi ones - due to heart failure at the price of the branded ones. They are sooooo much cheaper. And he is very happy with them, as he is not easily pleased, I consider this a victory in many ways! I see that Lidl are also doing their own blades too. Worth considering, even if this would be the only thing you bought from them. I am, of course, assuming you have one nearby, we are very lucky to have both within a reasonable walking distance. Hope this is of some use, toodlepip!:jMoney saving eco friendly Fertility reflexology specialist :j0 -
Hello All!
first shop of the month: £7.32. Still haven't managed to make a meal plan - there mus be some psychological barrier?
