Same thing happened to mine (the little vax) It's definately an overheating issue as left mine overnight and the next morning it worked perfectly.
Yes mine packed up after using approx 5 mins but worked the next day, let me know how the phone call goes...I don't really like the little one, so would be great to be offered a partial refund!...dream on!

I recently purchased a vax bubble cylinder thing and it suffered exactly the same problem. This cut off is purpose built, In my manual it says that it will cut out to save it overheating, disconect it and leave it for an hour. Terrible feature, cover over for poor engineering.

Vax upright & cylinder.I got one of these on the offer. Like other posters the little one overheated, but restarted after an hours rest. Fed up after the 3rd time, too lazy to send it back, so removed the filter pad from the exhaust at the back to allow more air flow. It's worked perfectly ever since. No dust blowing out either. If you price them up in the new Argos book the upright is £89.95, and the cylinder is £79.99 if you buy them separately. Looks like we all got a good deal despitethe overheating of the cylinder one.

Let us know how that goes as I'm still waiting for mine...as is my mum, dad, and sister!

If you ask why it's taking so long for those who applied on the internet I'd be interested to hear their reply.
