Just had a reply from service@call1899.co.uk asking me to try entering my bank details again in their DD page as they say that there appears to be no problem at their end, but to report a technical fault on the problem reporting section of their web site if difficulty is still experienced.

Very happy to report that my bank details now appear to have been successfully accepted. Will now await confirmation of registration, etc in next 24 hours.

Thank you to anyone who has also reported this problem to call1899.
Hopefully, we may now be getting somewhere.

I don't think they will fix it anytime soon, it's been like it for what must be almost a year now.

I register for 18185 a few weeks ago and the DD application went through straight away with my bank account details.

Maybe you could try another bank account if you have one and see if it works this time?

After trying for many days to switch to DD and getting all the same e-mails mentioned by others; today it went through. Worth keeping on trying.

I've now got a customer no. and can make calls OK.

Apparently, the moral of the story is to keep on trying to register ( as others have reported) and eventually it might just work.

Best of luck to everyone else!

    Shock Horror!

I have successfully changed to DD on both 1899 & 18185!

Glass of water for Mr. Speedyrite....

Definitely worth carrying on trying, they seem to have fixed something...

Have successfuly signed up today with call18185 using the Direct Debit registration page. It worked first time, so the previous ongoing problem seems to have been sorted, if anyone now wants to swap to DD with 1899 or 18185.

What's the advantage of DD to Card Authorisation?

You can cancel a DD, it's just a case of popping into the bank, calling them up or clicking a button on the internet with internet banking.

You can't cancel a CCCA, you can ask the company to stop taking payment from the card, but that's about it, they could still carry on taking payment.

At least with DD if you see a problem with the bill, you can prevent the company taking payment, with CCCA you can't they will take the payment and you will have to try and get them to refund you.
