I've had an e-mail reply from call 1899 saying that the registration system is working OK at their end, and to try again.

Have tried again & it still won't accept valid bank sort code/ account no. details so have e-mailed them back to report continuing problem.

    thanks for the update.

what e-mail address did you report the problem to?
if you let me know, I'll also send a problem report - the more problems reported, the more poential customers lost, hopefully some action taken!

    speedyrite,

I used 'contact customer services' ( top left menu on call 1899 main screen), then the link right at the end of 'any questions' to send an e-mail to call 1899.

The reply saying there were no problems at their end ( !) came from service@ call1899.co.uk .

I hope you have more luck than me, but as you say, the more the problem is reported, hopefully the better chance of getting it sorted.

I got fed up of waiting for this to be fixed on both call1899.co.uk and 18185.co.uk !

So I have signed up using my debit card. Maybe I will be able to change to DD once my a/cs are active?!?

I'm already signed up with 18185, tried to change to DD this afternoon - same result as others (Unable to verify sortcode / acct number).

Will have to stay with paying by switch for now I guess... :-/

Ever since 1899 has had DD available I've never managed to set up DD.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Yes, having signed up with my debit card, I am still unable to change payment method to DD! Same problem as when I tried to setup DD payment during the registration process. Ah well never mind...

When you enter your bank account number, is it 8 digits long? Some websites (including bank ones!!) get upset if your account number is less than 8 digits so you have to put extra 0's on the front to make it up to 8 digits.

Yes my account number is actually 8 digits long and my sort code is 6 digits long. I even managed to input them correctly but sadly their websites seem to think they are invalid!

As I said, I've signed up ok with my debit card (the number of which is my sort code and account number prefixed with 4 other digits), but can't switch to DD as the same problem prevails...
