Call 1899/18185 problem!

I'm still waiting for any reply to several e-mails to call1899 informing them of the problem in being unable to register correct bank details on their Direct Debit registration page.
Not impressed with their ( lack of ) customer service !0 -
They are a very low cost provider, if they had a call centre with loads of CS staff then the prices would be high like, BT, TalkTalk, cable etc. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

I just want them to acknowledge that their DD registration page is not working and that ( hopefully ) they will fix the problem, that's all.0

I don't think they will fix it anytime soon, it's been like it for what must be almost a year now. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I changed from CCCA to DD for 1899, 18185 and 18866 in early May this year.BexTech wrote:I don't think they will fix it anytime soon, it's been like it for what must be almost a year now.
All went through without a problem.
In fact, 18185 and 1899 have each made two successful DD calls since then (the 18866 account is still 'live' but, not currently being competetive, is not used at the moment).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Yeah, it seems to work for some and not for others, I had several attempts over time to try and set it up, it did once accept the details, but when it came to them trying to take money out, they sent an email to say they couldn't even though there was nothing wrong with the details entered.
I use VoIP now, but do occasionally use them via the 0808 access number on my one VoIP service, I just put it back to using a credit card, even though I don't like CCCA and much prefer DD.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Just had an e-mail reponse from service@call1899.co.uk to say that everything is working OK at their end and to try again to register Direct Debit details.
Needless to say it didn't work for me yet again.
Has anyone successfully registered DD details during the last week or two?0 -
Just a chance, you are using MS IE aren't you?Ruy wrote:Just had an e-mail reponse from service@call1899.co.uk to say that everything is working OK at their end and to try again to register Direct Debit details.

I know some sites are useless when I try to access them via my preferred browser (Firefox 1.5.0.6).
I have 1899, 18185 and 18866 set up to default to MS IE for that reason.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I got the 'everything is working now; please try again' email from 18185 too. Doesn't work for me either - sent a reply asking them what to do now and they just sent the same email again!Ruy wrote:Just had an e-mail reponse from service@call1899.co.uk to say that everything is working OK at their end and to try again to register Direct Debit details.

First time I've had to deal with customer service from 18185, gotta say they seem useless!
GWot, no sig?0 -
I've given up on trying to switch to DD now!
It wouldn't accept my sort code/account num when I tried to register.
And it wouldn't accept my sort code/account num when I tried to switch to DD *after* I had registered.
Funny how it accepted my sort code/account num (which is obviously a significant part of my debit card number) when I registered to pay by debit card though...
I don't like using continuous card authorisation (much prefer DD) but it seems there is no alternative.
All of the above applies to both 1899 & 18185.
Just wondering what will happen in Feb 2007 when my debit card expires and gets re-issued!?
(I'm using MS IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 as my browser.)0
