we had to buy a new tree this year....we before this we've carted one in and out till its too bg then planted it....this year it was a fine size but it was in the paddock and the horse scratched her bottom in it and snapped it.
I always buy a tree with a root ball (well every other year) and we plant it out. Every one of the damn things has died.
Dressing the tree has always been a huge thing for us. We do carols and spend hours. This year it was stony silence and done in twenty minutes.
I am going to remarry and land her with a step-father. That will teach her.
So low salary and job security versus decent wage and possible unemployment in a year?
Opinions please.............Retail is the only therapy that works0 -

Probably depends on how big the tree, where it comes from (annual transportation costs) and what other item they would have made from the artificial materials (in the case of the fake one). It probably depends on a tree by tree basis.
Having googled it consensus appears to be that real one's are more environmentally friendly, and as we all know, the internet is rarely wrong.
About...5 foot 10? Locally grown this one...but this one has no roots, which seems slightly mean of us. I've got pictures....but can't get the wretches to upload....
Real trees FEEL right. TBH, if it were fake or nothing I'd have nothing.0 -

The brat is packing her cases to move in with you as we speak.
Dont expect her too soon though, we have to try and find a 38 tonner to move all her stuff.....Retail is the only therapy that works0 -

Result, after all my fears about not finding one to buy I'm getting one gifted and delivered? Yippee! ...its a bit cramped here already though, I give her about half an hours moaning before the truck is turned round and brought home(probably with my tree.)

Just wanted to share a wee joke I heard today, it’s a silly one but it did make me chuckle.
“I sold my house this week. I got a pretty good price for it, but it made my landlord mad as hell”
Joe X-factor winner rocks ma boat and “Yummy Eye Candy”
Don’t want o break any rules, can someone please advise me if i am allowed to please mention a MSE poster? (he’s not Famous, but he sure does rock my sense of humour every day).

We always had good value from trees purchased on Mendip. If we shook our heads at all the trees in the yard, we'd be invited to go out on the Land Rover and get to choose our own. With hundreds to choose from that was easy, but the best bit was the ride.
This year we have to try a new place. Apparently, everyone goes there. It's two minutes away, so not much scope for off-roading.0 -
I have a German friend who uses real candles on her real tree. Oh, boy, its glorious, but I can't imagine not being terrified.0

We have lights out front in a hawthorn tree, and some more in a bay and a contorted hazel, but they are 'normal.' From where I'm sitting the lights in the hawthorn make a perfect outline of a frog. OK, a frog with a tail, but unmistakably a frog.
Once you see something in a particular way, that's it, isnt it? It's like one of those psychological tests.:rolleyes:0
