'typically English' snack for 25 children? Help!

Does it have to be a sweet snack? I would have though some nice cheesy snack bars or scones would have been tasty, but only if you can find some nice strong cheese. I imagine Cheddar is rather difficult to find in France, although Parmesan might substitute and mixing a teaspoonful of dry mustard in will give them an extra bite.0

No time to mature mince for mince pies so that's a no - will def get organised and make some next year.
No it doesn't have to be a sweet snack so cheese scones could be good - I'm not going to buy sliced bread for cucumber sandwiches as it costs a fortune - great idea though

and as i am welsh - an english tea to me means cucumber sandwiches scones and a victoria sponge!
an english nursery tea tho would be (from books i have read) thick slices of bread and butter with jam (conserve - yes?)
rice pudding? also nice cold with jam
