My 'double yolker' hen hasn't been looking too good the last couple of days, nor has she laid. This is normally a sign that a huge DY is on the way. Poor chook, considering how uncomfortable she's looking at the mo, it had better be a triple!
    Good, clean fun.... :D

I'm getting approx one double yolker every two days from my new hens (I have three new ones and two old dears) The one this morning looked like a dinasour egg it was so huge.

I love it when you get new chickens and the double yolkers! :j

I sell my eggs to neighbours (whoever wants them really!) for £1 per half dozen. They often tell me they get some double yolkers so everyones happy! The £1 goes towards food so its not really costing me anything to keep them.

Also dont' forget that hens have a cycle where the first eggs they lay are tiny, (all white or all yolk) and they work up from there. My sis's hubby's family run chicken farms and when the chicks were near the end of the laying cycle, they laid huge eggs, all were double or triple yolkers - once there was 4 yolks. These weren't battery chickens.

    I'm so surprised!!!!

Of the box of 15 eggs I got yeterday from Asda, I used 3 for my icecream this morning and one was a double yolker, which made me go ooh! with surprise.

I've just made a sponge cake and both were double yolkers!!!! Not sure how it will affect the cake as it means it now has 4 yolks in it, but it was a surprise!!!

for those who saw my cry for help with all the huge nectarines yesterday, the icecream is nectarine flavoured and the cake is an upside down nectarine cake!!!

And I've still got 6 left !!!! :rotfl:

If the eggs came from the same source, no reason why you wouldnt find a third one.

I love getting double yolkers. I think 3 in a box of 15 from Asda is unusual.
