Our sofas really are our crowning glory, they're a bit old fashioned for the rest of the flat but everyone who sits on one says how comfy it is and can't believe we got them from a charity shop! And 2nd hand stuff from a shop doesn't feel too hand-me-downy because we went out and chose it and paid for it, it's new to us!

Yea i wouldnt mind getting furniture from a charity shop - they are actually quite picky about what they take now, they wont just take any old rubbish anymore :rotfl:

When we looked for our first rental flat, we looked at furnished and some of the stuff looked like it had just been pulled out of skip - yucky....

Yeah having the van will mean fewer trips when moving our own stuff too, we only have small cars!

Hi Zig, how's things you've been quiet?

    Hey :) I've been lurking! :o

You know when you feel all hormonal and on edge all the time and analyse everything anyone does or says to you. (Or is just me?!) And just feel really emotional. That's me at the moment and it's tiring.

I usually only see my Dad at family gatherings on a weekend and it's been really nice just being able to sit with Quinn and talk to him. He seems to be the only person who isn't trying to give me a pep talk, or make things difficult, he's just being nice.

And I spoke to my Nan yesterday who said 'don't take this the wrong way, but leave your Dad and stepmum and baby alone for a bit' and then I fel guilty so I text my Dad to say sorry and he said it's been really nice to see me and pop over when I want so now I feel torn and confused and stuff. Everything seems to make my brain hurt!

Sorry Tete, massive boring post on your thread! :o

I don't know what kind of cost places you are looking at, but factor in 1 or sometimes 2 months rent as a deposit, usually around 3-400 for agency fees, credit checking etc, and leave yourself £200 just cos some bills have set up fees. So you're £1000 should be more than enough if OH is paying the deposit. Is June when his final exam is too?

:eek:I actually cant believe she said that. He's still your dad, even if there is a new baby on the scene. Your dad has obviously enjoyed spending more time with you - he wouldnt have said so otherwise!
I would be quite cross if my nan said that, especially when your going through a difficult time as it is at the minute.
I am sure your dad would want to help you as much as he can, and i highly doubt he would want baby Quinn to stop him from being there for you.

  • I hadn't thought of agency fees Dinah  might add another £500 on to the target just to be sure. I definitely want to be in somewhere at least halfway through the summer though, I like the idea of being able to relax in our own garden on an evening. He's had all his exams now, just waiting for his results - once he has those he can start putting together his portfolio and apply to become chartered, hopefully by about the same time.

Zig, glad you're OK, baby Quinn is a cutie - pay no mind to your nan, they can get a bit acerbic in their old age I find :(

Well done on paying the OD off! Bet you are excited to start savings now.

We live in a furnished flat. I don't mind it as most of the stuff was brand new. The wardrobes and stuff are a bit older but I don't mind that. Does mean though when we buy our own place we need to buy all the funiture too.

Zig - that is a bit off your Nan saying that, I am sure your Dad would say something if he didn't want you there.

Zig, don't worry. Quinn is your brother, you're entitled to spend some time with him and I'm sure that you are helping when you're there and if you are enjoying being with your dad I'm sure he feels the same. Do you get on with your Stepmum?

    Thanks :)

Yeah I get on with my stepmum, and I know she would say if she wanted time on their own, I just don't want to impose. I think my Nan thinks I'm going round to see Quinn, but actually it's a bit of both! I'll leave it for a few days though.

Do you think it would be ok to eat a lamb joint that was use-by yesterday?
