  • Ah thanks girls! I confess to succumbing to a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel someone brought in from an event (a mini one!) - I don't need any incentive to drink more wine though!

The thing is Poddle, isn't it right that once you're 25 you put on on average a pound a year or something? Yes it's only 10lbs now and people might not notice it but it's my thinking that you don't want it to be another 10lbs next year and another the year after... it needs nipping in the bud!

Hi Zig, how's things you've been quiet?

Nope 10lbs rarely gets noticed by anyone else! Not unless you're seriously tiny skeltetal looking, then people notice how well you look!

Yeah I felt all fab after losing about that much then went on hols with the girls in October and no one said anything :( - unless they just hadn't seen me for that long that that was how they remembered me anyway?

Hehe Poddle, when you do lose it they'll be saying 'Oooh, you look sooooo good now' even though they can't see a difference for the worse now! Like when you get your haircut and people say it looks so much better than it used to- how bad did it used to look?!

Tete, what's the plan for the moving out fund? How much in how long?

  • Yeah or when you break up with someone and everyone says they never liked him anyway hehe!

Well I've got £1000 in my sig, and if I save £250 per month that takes us to beginning of June, OH should have a similar amount saved and he even said he'd take care of all the deposits etc, but we'll see. So I don't know - do people think this is a reasonable amount? I don't mind getting an unfurnished place but would hope for it to have things like a washer and fridge... it's all a bit unchartered territory really!

£1000 seems fair. Just make sure you look for somewhere with the white goods already in. Have you got second hand furniture shops near you? We got a few bits from Sue Ryder Care for not a lot of money, they're better quality than cheap bits from Argos/ Ikea (as much as I love Ikea!) and we were helping a charity so felt warm and fuzzy! We've still got our sofas (I try not to think about the fact that they were probably from a dead old lady's house!) and they are super comfy and great quality and cost a grand total of £120 for 2!

I have always tended to try and find somewhere that at least has washing machine, fridge/freezer etc.. but personally wouldnt go for a furnished place, just because you never know whos used it and in my experience most furnished places have horrible stuff!

£1000 sounds good if (your very generous!) OH said he'll take care of deposits!

Do you know what sort of price range you will be looking at?

In all seriousness though, what a bargain price!

  • It is a bargain! And I'm sure the old lady is happy you're enjoying it! Good thought to think of things like that rather than cheap new stuff... there are a few of those furniture shops about yeah, and OH's brother in law has a van :)

The kettle and toaster I like come to £70 on amazon, so will have to get reviewing!

Thats good, will save you alot of money.

Sometimes i wonder how they can get away with charging such rediculous prices for van rental. Luckily OHs uncle has a van, so will save us some money there this time.

My friend lived in a furnished house and I really wouldn't like that, even the crockery and cutlery was included. She felt paranoid about using the stuff because she didn't want to break anything and lord knows who'd been sleeping in the beds before she moved in! Ick.

Our sofas really are our crowning glory, they're a bit old fashioned for the rest of the flat but everyone who sits on one says how comfy it is and can't believe we got them from a charity shop! And 2nd hand stuff from a shop doesn't feel too hand-me-downy because we went out and chose it and paid for it, it's new to us!
