Crikey Tink that's pretty tough going?! How do you survive? When I was working away I had to come home every Wednesday night and leave at the crack of dawn the next morning to travel back just because I missed OH!
I suppose there's always someone worse off than you, a girl I used to go to school with is marrying a chap who lives in Florida! She only sees him every few months! They're getting married this November though and she's moving out there after finally being approved for a very expensive VISA! How lucky though, she gets to live in the Sunshine State forever more! I'm trying to convince my Dad to start up an offshoot of his company in Fort Meyers so I can go and look after it, watch this space!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Hi ladies, sorry you're having a tough time Cinny and Tink
I know exactly what you mean about a rut, that's what I feel like a bit with OH, because we go out for our tea all the time we're always squabbling about where to go, we want somewhere cheap and cheerful but there aren't that many such places and this is why I get so frustrated about not having a place, if we did it wouldn't even be an issue.
Glad you enjoyed your holiday Zig, like whoever it was said, you'll soon lose those three pounds again once you're back to normal!
Have had a lovely few days 'out' away from work and everything else. The hotel had a lovely sauna, pool and hot tub so we had a relaxing evening on Tuesday. The OH went to his interview and is now an official Chartered Surveyor :T. The man in the interview was really agressive though he said, OH was quite flustered when he came out and it's not like him, he said it was like an interrogation rather than a professional interview. He's going to complain about him once his certificate comes through
We didn't go to Lincoln in the end as it was a little out of the way for our route, but we did go to Sheffield where I've never been before - I was really pleasantly surprised, it was lovely and it was so nice to just wander about in the sunshine.
Been to an RSPB sanctuary near here this morning, saw some bullfinches and a stoat but forgot the binoculars *rolly-eyes* Again though it was lovely just to have a wander in the sun.
We've booked to go to Menorca next Saturday for a week so the MOF has been ravaged, I'm not sure to what extent as money's flying about a bit between me and OH so will have to wait and see. This means I have nine days in which to finish both my maxi dress and my Amber Spyglass ... Luckily I don't need any holiday clothes or anything so it's just spending money I'll need.
Best crack on with this dress then eh?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Sounds like you've had a good few days off (and congrats to your OH!) and super exciting that you've booked hols for next weekend! Holidays are great for relationships and I always think some uninterrupted time together does wonders - it might be a prompt for your OH to realise that he can't wait any longer to move in with you with or without the perfect rental!
Have a lovely weekend!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Thanks Pod, hope you've enjoyed your weekend too. We didn't get up to an awful lot, watched the match and then went to my Godmother's wedding do on Saturday night, which was lovely - I love her very much and it's nice to see her all dressed up and happy, but the only people we knew there were the over 70s so we didn't stay too long. Left them all on the dancefloor at about 10pm!
Sigh, the MOF was over £1000 for one sweet day when OH's holiday money went in and before Jet2 took it out! Now it's at £274.95, and I also need to get car parking out of that so it'll be at £236.96 by the end of the day. We've decided that wneh we do find a place, I'll pay the admin fees (about £200) and OH will get the bond, and I'll also need my month's advance rent. OH has also very kindly said he'll get us whatever furniture etc we need. So realistically I only need to be at about £500 to move out without any debt.
I don't know what's happened with my money this month at all, it's payday on Friday and I've had to move some money out of my car saver just so I don't go OD on my C/A. A bad time to do it as well as my car insurance is due in July. There's £210 in at the min, and another £50 will go in on Friday - hopefully the insurance shouldn't be too much more than £260 - with it being a newer car I'm not sure what it'll come to.
This last minute hol was a bad idea really, means I also have to get my spending money out of June's wage, plus I'm going to London the weekend after I get back. I'm staying with friends and the tickets are already booked, but I know from experience no matter how much you try to keep these things cheap the little things always add up. Need to have a good look at my budgets for Friday, it's going to be grim!
But you can't mope on these things, it's booked now so I'm going to enjoy it. I need a holiday after the last few weeks at work! Maxi dress is going OK, the top half is done, the bottom half is cut out so all I need to do is sew up the sides of the skirt, sew the top and bottom together and put a zip in, oh and hem it. I have loads of washing and ironing to do as all my holiday clothes have been floded in drawers for the last year and needed freshening up. I also really want to try and finish The Amber Spyglass before I go, but I'm still about 300 pages off and my dress takes priority.
I've been having a look at the new Dooyoo points system as I'm hoping to get a few reviews written over the summer when it'll hopefully be a bit quieter. I was quite surprised at some things, like the travel and UK and Ireland Guide is in the lowest category - I find hotel reviews really useful. It's a shame because I have a lot of hotels in my backlog to review but won't be putting much effort in if I'm only getting 10p for it. The make up and bodycare are in the second category which is better than I thought but you're still only getting 30p for them. No surprise that electricals are in the top category, but I was quite annoyed that toys are on there too - there are so many mums who just sit and list toy after toy and they're so boring! So I guess I'll get brushing up on my electrical reviews. It's silly because i could do a really good informed hotel reviewa dn get 10p or do a vague pretyy useless car review and get 60p. Ah well.
Ooh and I was a pound lighter this morning too which is a minor miracle
OK, this week is going to be a busy one.

EDIT Tues AM - Didn't get any of my dress done last night, stayed at cousin's gossiping for far too long. Love the furry stole things she's got for the bridesmaids though, her wedding's on 21st December so it'll be lovely and festive (that's NEXT YEAR by the way - she's getting very organised!)
The light nights had me fooled as well, I was pottering about and looked up and it was 10.30! So hoping that if I really go full steam ahead on the dress tonight I might be able to get it finished. I finally finished off all the niggly bits of paperwork and got my sewing bits handed in so that's a big relief.
Must dash, work is sooo busy!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Getting there with my dress, though it's taking up all my spare time! Just the zip to put in and the hem to take up and it's done. It looks as though it might fit, and hopefully the fabric will look a little bit less odd once it's ironed.
I'm leaving work at half time today and going to try and finish it off before OH comes over, then going to rope him into baking a cake for tomorrow night.
Washing is all done but got a fair bit of ironing to do, might have to see if I can get Friday afternoon off to finish off a few bits. Holidays are always fraught with stress and work either side of them aren't they?!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Hi! Couple of monster posts there! How organised is your cousin having her BMs stuff sorted already?! A friend of ours got married in December last year and the bride and BMs all wore little furry stoles, they looked lovely!
The light nights are fooling me too; I went to my parents house last night for a BBQ and was hanging round at theirs till about 9, thinking it was only 8! I had to wear my sunglasses to drive home too, it was very odd!
The dress is sounding good, looking forward to the pictures when you're finished!
Things are sounding a bit manic for you at the minute, you need your holiday by the looks of it! Sometimes you think is it really worth it for the extra work before you go and when you get back, but it really is once you're away! Hope you have a lovely time and I'm not jealous at all!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I'm quite excited to wear it actually, it's so fluffy and lovely. But when would one wear a white furry stole afterwards???
Dress is going OK, hope it's going to make me look less 'hippy' once the zip's in. I'm feeling 'at one' with Edith the Sewing Machine at the moment, we're a team!
Yeah things are a bit manic, I think it's because work is so busy and then so is home. I'm going to take it a bit easier on myself when I get back from hols, not so much of the to-do lists. But then, I'll come back all refreshed on Monday and roll my sleeves up and say, "Right...!"
Trying to decide if Dooyoo is really worth it anymore, wonder what others think?Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I've not Dooyoo'd in ages, not even looked at the new system. I suppose if I feel like writing a review I still will but I've not really made a real job of it so far and I'll carry on that way! I enjoyed my Amazon voucher though, it's nice to get something for 'free' although it was spent on a wedding present so I didn't even get a treat for my 'hard work'!
You could wear the fluffy stole... to a Christmas/ New Years party? Dress up as an Angel for a fancy dress party? My SIL wore one to a winter wedding so it'll be handy if you go to another wedding in winter, it's a classic piece so you can keep it for years! And if you don't want to keep it you can donate it to me, I'll give it a good home!
My work's been a bit manic too recently; we're stock taking this weekend so all of a sudden everyone's panicking because we're not as organised as we should be! They've had 6 months notice, it's not like it's a surprise, it happens at the same time every year, twice a year! I'm obviously fantastic and am on top of things but everyone else i.e. the higher ups are completely useless and sticking their noses in where they're not needed! Have to do a loooooong day tomorrow, staying until I don't know when to clear down the system but I get Friday off for it so that's good! Shame I have to come in and work on Saturday- boo! But it's overtime, so yay!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
No no I think the fluffy stole will be happy at home with me but thanks for the offer
Yeah I think I might knock dooyoo on the head, it's very time consuming for what you (now) get. I've had £100 off it but it took about 18 months and way longer in actual man hours than it would take me to earn that at work! I'll see how I feel when I'm all zen after my jollies.
I know what you mean about work - I always have everything under control (mostly) but those above will come in flapping about things when there's really no need. Or people give you urgent deadlines to do things when they've known about it for ages
Had a little wander into town, it's so hot and lovely out there. Bought a beach bag in Primark as the last one I had broke and got left in Ibiza. Had a really good scout round as it was quite quiet in there for a change (everyone's probably got BBQs on instead) and couldn't find one thing I wanted to buy, and yet I see se many lovely items of clothing in people's blogs, s'not fair!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I find that Tete, I usually end up buying OH things and finding nothing for myself! How annoying! I think I need a new beach bag as the last few times we've been away I've used a Tesco Cath Kidston blue spotty shopping bag and it's looking a bit sorry for itself now! I keep telling myself that as the VIP on holiday I need to look the best!
It's a lame excuse to get new things but it works for me!
I got super annoyed this morning with some stupid woman from head office; I've been on top of the accounts for ages, paying people back when they've overpaid and chasing them when they've underpaid etc and we had an amount on screen for a customer who had paid £2000 less than they should have so I was holding it as the rest of their account went legal since they ignore our phonecalls and this stupid woman rang them this morning and paid the £300 that we'd managed to get off them back onto their card! She rang me to tell me about it and I was like, 'Riiiiight so when I spoke to you yesterday and said everything was as it should be that actually meant ignore me and do what you please and there was a note on the account saying they owe us £2000!!!!! And now you've given them another £300!!!!! OH MY GOD ARE YOU STUPID OR WHAT???' Why can't everyone just leave me to run the whole blinkin' operation?!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0
