That sounds like a right old pain, Lara! At least you know where it's supposed to be coming from, fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later. I'm in a bit of a money muddle too :( I don't think it's that bad, but I'm being impatient and want things to hurry up and get paid off - I just don't want to wish away my life until the next payday!

Morning, not been much of a moneysaving diary this week has it, I've been spending the week doing things I enjoy rather than constant chores and stuff.

Dress is getting there, looks like it might fit and everything, hoping to get the skirt ready to attach before next lesson. I bouught this pattern yesterday which I'd like to adapt into a maxi dress, shouldn't be too difficult? Can't decide whether to make it in a jersey or in a white cotton I saw yesterday which has lots of bright flowers on, if I go with the latter it'll have to be lined... So possibly the jersey! I also bought a silver/grey tom from a charity shop which I'm hoping to cut up and put as an accent part of a dress like Dinah did, but that's only a half formed idea at the minute! Wish I had more time for sewing, paid work is so overrated!

Went to see Ondine at the cinema last night which was lovely and romantic but I'm so tired today. And had a vaccine booster yesterday too so my arm is pretty much useless today :(

No real plans for the weekend, OH is going to install my new CD player for me tonight and if we have nice weather one day might take the Grey Squirrel for a spin to the Lakes. Also going to visit his little niece who fell off a climbing frame in the school playground yesterday and broke her leg in two places :( She's having it pinned today, she's only five bless her, but seems to be handing it better than any of the adults involved of course!

Which one did you get? The link has about 25 items on it. :) Is the pattern designed for jersey or cotton? I'm making two maxis atm, the cotton one might be adaptable to use jersey, but the jersey one would never use cotton.

Horrible about the niece. Take her some cookies to feel better.

    Argh damnit! This one:

    6557nlb.jpg

    SUGGESTED FABRICS
Cotton and Cotton Blends, Laundered Cottons, Broadcloth, Pique, Poplin, Seersucker, Silks and
Silk Types, Jacquards, Laundered Silks-Rayons, Crepe De Chine, Double Georgette, Satin,
Shantung, Taffeta, Linen and Linen Blends.
Not suitable for stripes or one way design fabrics.

I want to adapt it a bit - have the thicker straps but have them to tie as a halterneck. Is there another name for jersey that appears on the list above? :o

Hadn't thought of baking for her - good idea!

Lol no everything on that list is a fairly stiff, stretch free fabric. You'd need 160cm wide fabric I reakon as well as its quite a full skirt and anything narrower wouldn't be able to go the full length and keep the A shape,, unless maybe you did a thick contrast section across the bottom in another material?

Well I was thinking I'd adapt the skirt shape slightly, if it carried on in a straight line at the same angle it'd be massive surely?

I'm not really sure what difference it should make using a jersey, it'll make it less tailored but I'm not really bothered about that, it's only a casual day dress...? Will speak to Sally in the week and see what she thinks.

My jersey is staggeringly heavy, it might pull the line down is all I'm thinking and make the top section look pulled. Good thought about the skirt shape, depends how foldy you want it really.

Sheesh, well good afternoon, long time no post, or it feels like it anyway! Three day week at work this week so having to work double hard :( But also lots to do before going to Italia on Saturday! Was dismayed by the weather forecast of heavy rain all week last night, and the fact that that blimmin volcano has erupted again this morning, but now seems that flights are on again and the forecast is now only for light rain showers by Saturday so fingers crossed all should be ok!

Had a feeling it had been a spendy weekend so just checked my account through my fingers, but it's not actually too bad. My Italy spends are set aside, as is my haircut on Friday and now that my tax is paid for the year and I don't have an MOT til December I can probably spare £50 or so from the Car Fund if I really need to. Only two weekends to get through once I'm back though so hopefully won't need to.

Mega week to-do list, in vaguely the order I'll do it:

    - Book Uffizi and Academia tickets
    - Online check in
    - Print off all flight and hotel bookings
    - Make opticians appointment
    - Make packed lunches all week
    - Sort through car paperwork
    - Packing list
    - Washing x 2
    - Finish cushion #1
    - Paint toenails a nice bright red :D
    - Fix falling-apart drawer
    - Glue button on boot
    - Hoover up
    - Finish cushion # 2
    - Bake something for OH niece
    - Visit OH niece
    - Visit Grandma
    - Get hair cut
    - Change money
    - Sort through handbag
    - Pack

    Wish me luck!
