I was reading a thread on that the other day - not as extreme as you might think considering it's a short term loan thing.

I think they worked it out that if you borrowed £20 from a friend, paid them back within a week but took them to the pub for a pint...to say thanks, that the pint was equivilant to 4000% APR(approx).

OMG you can tell my boss is away - I have finished my work's to do list for the first time in months :D:D

Just got to envelope these letters and I can relax tomorrow then!
  • Hi all :hello: anyone around? or are you all busy working or doing housework . Not much doing here so far - I'm building up to it :rotfl:. Off to first counselling sessin in a bit so feeling a bit nervous and then it's off to college.
In other news - new sofa arrived yesterday but landlady hadn't got a plan to get rid of the old sofa bed - and it is heavy - just trying to beg someone to help us with it.
Hugs to Bookie and Snaggles and anyone else who needs them. :grouphug:
Bookie - have you tried Shelter? and maybe tried getting free legal advice - I think it's CLS- community legal services you need that do legal services for people on benefits etc. Hope things get sorted for you.

    Well done Becky!

Good luck with the counselling DF.

Just got a slow cooker so the rice pudding recipe would be handy here too :D

  • Thanks redsquirrel - rice pudding sounds good - I know my OH wants to make one but it's not really my thing - but a quick recipe would be good - don't have a slow coker though.
College is going o.k - bit hard core sometimes but I am glad you all encouraged me to go for it - might even do Sage or level 2 after Christmas but we will see.
    Weather not too bad here.
Right best go and get organised.

Luc, how do you make your rice pudding?

Scald 900ml of full fat milk (Heat until almost boiling)
Chuck 3oz pudding rice, 2oz sugar into SC. If you want you can add 2tbsp honey/maple syrup and a good grating of nutmeg or pinch of cinnamon at this stage. Pour over heated milk and SC for 4+ hours or until rice has softened and absorbed most of the liquid.
    26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%
    28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%

If you don't have a slow cooker you can do one in the oven:

Pre heat oven to 150C, butter an oven proof dish big enough for the ingredients listed above and bake for 3-4 hours (so to be MSE I suppose you should have a casserole in at the same time;))

I also like to apply a tin opener to a can of ambrosia, pop in the microwave and scoff the lot;):o

To jazz it up you can add dried fruit at the start such as apricits, craisins, cherris, sultanas etc. I sometimes poach these separately in a spot of rum, water and brown sugar until plumped and serve ontop of rice pudding...

I also do a coconut and lime version of rice pudding if anyone is interested...
