    Morning peeps

    i`m back online :j

Ivyleaf - I saw your post a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately i`ve not been on holiday although i would have loved to have been away, thanks for noticing my absence.

I`ve been very busy in the kitchen and it still looks like a builders yard

The plasterer is calling by later to give us a quote and advise what else needs doing before he can start work. Today will be spent removing worktops and more cupboards and knocking the remaining tiles off. We found that the previous owners had tiled over wallpaper so that has meant a huge amount of extra work and fitting it all in around working long shifts has been exhausting.

I have learnt a great deal in the last few weeks and have done some minor plumbing for the washing machine and dishwasher, this had to be done quickly as the kitchen flooded three times in 10 days and we just couldn`t fathom out where the water was coming from.
I have just learnt how to remove a radiator without draining the system first :D not something that i would like to repeat as a face full of black sludge which managed to reach 8 feet away from the rad is not a pleasant experience  still i`ve cut the dodgy fittings off and capped the pipe beneath the floor so replacing the rad in the summer when the system can be drained will be added to the things to do list.

Hope that everyone is well as i`ve not been keeping up properly :o i`ve been online a bit here and there at w*rk but apart from the odd random post and trying to keep up with the GC i`ve been mainly looking around for prices and deals for things that need renewing.

My new broadband was connected yesterday and very pleased i am with it too! I have one pc sorted out and i shall get around to the others in time, i shall probably still disappear again for a while until the kitchen is in better shape but will try to read a bit more than lately.

Very cold here this morning - the wind is like an icy blast, i shall be wrapping up well shortly and taking the houndies out for their first walk of the day. I shall try and keep the younger houndie clean as she has developed a habit of running through a horrible swampy area when we are out - much to the amusement of everyone around. Its horrible stuff to clean off though!

Right i`m off to make the most of my day off and see how much i can achieve.

    Have a fantastic day everyone.

    SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning all

Dry and bright if a little chilly here, so a better start to the day. I'm now on days off so spent yesterday afternoon washing, drying and ironing so still have some to do but not loads. I will be popping into town shortly to get a Get Well card for OH's nan, she had big cancer op on Tuesday and had a telephone call last night to say they have already moved her out of Intensive Care and onto a normal ward and she had been talking and actually had some colour in her face! These old folk really are tough as old boots! (in the nicest possible way of course!), so news is much better than we could have dared to expect. My dad went to Drs yesterday but phone line continually engaged last night so I will get an update at some point today.

Hoping to get some hobs nobs, choc chip cookies and bread made today for pack-ups, and need to do some general housework.

Have to go now, keep safe and well, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning All :hello:,

Thanks for all your kind posts - I am feeling much better today! Had a long chat with DH last night and he made me see that I'm not useless, we just need a bit of a kick-start!

MSD - fantastic news about Tris!
redruby - I would be cross about the lack of anything from other parents too! We had a phase like that a while back where DH's ex was ferrying SD and her friends everywhere and it became expected. She just had to stop it in the end, and when SD's friends started asking their parents for lifts they twigged.
    Sunnyday - welcome back!!

OSiness today will involve cooking enough curry to sink a battleship! DH loves my currys so I have to box up and hide the portions I want to freeze for lunches otherwise I've got no chance :rotfl:

My Dad has discovered what is making our bedroom wall wet - the rendering on the side of the house has a massive crack down it. Fortunately, my Dad is a bit of an all round builder-sparks-come-painting/decorating expert so the rendering isn't a problem - him finding the enthusiam however is another matter! It also means it's kind of pointless me treating the wall for damp until the rendering's fixed...

Better get on with some work, as apparently, that's what I'm paid for. Who knew...?

Have a lovely day OS or otherwise, hugs all round xx

  • Morning everyone.

Thanks to everyone who has mentioned Dtwin1. :A For those that don't know, she became very, very poorly, very, very suddenly last night and NHS24 sent an ambulance for her. icon9.gif We got to take her home again in the early hours but she's quite unwell and she and I have had no sleep. I've kept them both off today as Dtwin2 had such a disturbed night with it all and we're all wrecked. I have a feeling there will be a doctor out again before long.

I only scanned the thread I'm afraid and have no OS to report although I do have to finish cleaning vomit up from every square inch of the top of the stairs. Actually OH was brilliant and did a lot of the cleaning and the washing last night. _pale_ Take care everyone.

    xxx

    Hi everyone,

Haribo - I hope DTwin improves through the day, it's so frightening when they get ill so suddenly isn't it. Thankfully they also often seem to recover just as quickly.

Been a bit weepy for the last couple of days and am feeling a bit stupid. I've been looking through catalogues etc for Christmas present inspiration and keep thinking that MIL would lke something and then realise that she's no longer with us.

I sorted through all the paperwork yesterday and thankfully didn't find anything I should have dealt with before. Just need to file all the stuff I didn't throw away.
  • Morning all!
I have never been so wet (fully clothed) as I was last night at the christmas lights switching on. It hailed just before we left and poured it down with stong wind whilst we were there-ther was even some lightening and thunder which wasn't too nice as lots of people in the crowd had umberellas!
Anyhow I got most of my christmas shopping sorted yesterday-just a few bits still to get and some paper and cards so off out for that shortly-in yet more rain!
May make some twinks later and need to do some cleaning.
MSD pleased to hear that Tris is on his way home, and its 2 weeks to my birthday too-I'm on the 12th!
Haribo I hope dtwin2 improves quickly.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. I know its an american celebration but I think the sentiment is universal after all its a time for us all to pause and give thanks for all those things that are so dear to our heart. We all get bogged down with the day to day trivialities of life and sometimes forget how much our loved ones mean to us, Lesleyxx

    What a lovely post!

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving personally either, and don't actually know anyone who does over in the UK, but just wanted to mention it for anyone who DOES have American friends or who like N9eav have a connection there. But I thought your words were lovely, so thank you.:D
