Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 26th November. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS chums.
Happy Thanksgiving to any American friends reading this!
Halight - Thank you for the reminder.. one month to Christmas means just two weeks to my birthday!:p
lowesy - Don't worry about what mood you are in when you post honey, we just love to hear from you. Hope you feel better today.
Rosy - thank you. x
Sunnygirl -
My dear patient OH completely wiped the laptop and reloaded it for the third time in a week and so far, so good! Please keep up the vibes for a few days, not sure my OH could cope with another reload..
Snoozer - Please do not worry about not being too OS, we love to see you posting.
Ladyshopper - hope your DD is better today (if she was actually ill..
). And I saw Paradox and enjoyed it too though the characters are a little one dimensional so far.
Nesssie - Welcome back honey, good to see you and congrats on your distinction
I just ordered the set of TrueBlood books from The Book People so that is my reading sorted for a week or so. I am loving the TV programme so am interested to see how closely it followed the books.
I succumbed and ate more Thorntons fudge yesterday so felt a trifle green around the gills for a while but it is so delicious!
Today's lunch will be YS cheese and onion pasties with baked beans made bbq-y with some added bbq ketchup, and dinner will be baked potatoes and tuna salad. Plus bananas and ice cream for dessert with HM butterscotch sauce.
Tristan came out of hospital yesterday! The Drs finally agreed that as long as he has a nurse call by every day to check dressings etc then it was Ok. I think in reality having to face a bad tempered 6ft 4 patient every day finally got to them and they were glad to let him go! He hates hospitals. So he may not log on this morning as I am sure the ride home would have been exhausting for him.
To anyone feeling under the weather or poorly
- get well soon. I hope today is the very best it can be for you. With love and light to all.

Morning everyone,
There you go, I never even knew it was Thanksgiving Day. Gobble, gobble, gobble.
I haven't done a great deal today. Definately room for improvement. SIL rang and chatted on phone for 2 hours.
I did vacume & wash the floors though afterwards.
I've sorted out tea. Made a zucchini slice & potato salad for tea tonight. Mango & ice-cream for dessert. Beautiful fresh mango's out now and DH gets them free from the markets. Even better. We're getting another solar cell put on our roof Tuesday. We should make enough money to cover our rates (council tax) for the year. Shine, sun, shine.
Bit like Run, Forrest, Run.
Haribo Hope you managed to get to sleep & DTwin is much better this morning.
Ruby HM cards.  Think you've got me there.
Ivyleaf We leave here 20th January. Close to midnight. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. I'll be exhausted even before take off.
Meanmarie Take care xx
Hope you've had a cooler day than me & <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning all
Lazy start for me, don't have to get to work so early from now on.
DS is popping round to collect his washing later & to have tea, the daft so & so has had 3 broken ribs for the last few weeks & not realised, he's still going in to work as one of the other mechanics is on holiday!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning. Despite the forecast for cooler dry weather is chucking it down out there, Another soggy day ahead.
Happy thanksgiving too, my daughter was born there, so we have some affinity with the place. Although I think we will be having thanksgiving pasties for tea!
Did not accomplish too much yesterday, a little tidying but made a CV for my neighbour, so that was an accomplishment.
Spent the evening in Truro, saw some reindeers, santa, brass bands and lights, so very festive. Also bought some Weird fish clothing reduced to 3 and £5 for good t shirts and fleeces.. Great bargain for Christmas...
Well, Day off and I am going to waste it doing something....
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning all,
No Rain here yet, but more due later, and getting colder too.
Off to work again today, busy time for us at the moment, but the time flies past.
Something with chips for tea, not sure what, will go and freezer rummage in a while. Need to do a wash tonight, and we have a sainsbugs delivery coming.
Aussie
, if you like I will send you a hm card
, although I do have to admit I dont make a christmas cake or any mince pies cos none of us like them.
DD is off to a gig tomorrow night, so I am being invaded by three giggiling girlies from school, and I have to drive them to the gig, dd's dad is picking them up after, as none of the other parents can do it , I have told dd this is the last time I will be taking her, I have done it both ways twice now, ( its a good 1/2 hour each way) not one parent has offered to help, or any petrol money, makes me a bit
Taplady, how did you get on last night ???
Have fun all xx
Edited to say, Haribo, I do hope dtwin is ok, please let us know, give her a big kiss from me xx0 -
Good Morning All
No rain here at the moment but still windy - looks like it is starting to dry up though.
Ended up having a nice day yesterday, one of the filing jobs is done and OH treated me to lunch in Prezzo's with the voucher mentioned on Martins email - was very pleasant too.
Today have more office work, ironing & tidying. Need to make potato & leek soup which the kids have requested for dinner. Will have it with hm bread and pancakes for dessert.
Need to pop to the library later as running out of books and that is my worst nightmare. My Pioneer Lady cookbook arrived yesterday :j and I will sit down later and read it in honour of Thanksgiving
Hope you all have a good day.x0 -
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.I know its an american celebration but I think the sentiment is universal after all its a time for us all to pause and give thanks for all those things that are so dear to our heart. We all get bogged down with the day to day trivialities of life and sometimes forget how much our loved ones mean to us and today I consider it a day to celebrate that.Sadly my OH is working tonight so we cant have a big meal but I'll be giving OH and the kids an extra big cuddle today
Well enough of the mush, its raining here today so outdoor play will be limited.I've got loads of other jobs to do though.Got Material to cut and sew into tablecloths for the xmas table and I've christmas cards to make.Could also do with making some cakes and biscuits.Washing and ironing has been done already this morning so no hassle there. But I will need to flick a duster round and vacuum later.
MSD-Great news about Tris going home
Aussie-Have always been tempted to install solar panels but the price is horrendous over here, its about £8000 and tbh cant afford it but I'd love to give it a go

Morning all.
Cold here this morning so the heating is on. I have been mixed up with my days all week & was convinced that yesterday was Thanksgiving
It's because DS2 & DS3 are off school tomorrow for a teacher training day so it feels like Friday today IYSWIM?
Going to MIL's flat again this morning but thankfully we've made good progress so I think we might be done by tomorrow :T
Lunch will be leek & potato soup that I made last night & will take over in a flask (the final reading has been given in to the electric company already so don't want to use any more). Tea tonight is falafel, wedges & beans which everyone loves.
Haribo ((hugs)) to your DD
Have a good day everyone xxx0 -
Morning all...Happy Thanksgiving Day to You
I'm suprised Thanksgiving hasn't took off more here (Belfast) they seem to adopt american ways easily (and vice versa!).
NothuingOS about the chicken kebabs we ordered for tea last night (*hangs head in shame) that's the 2nd take away this week! I'm using my dodgy hip as an excuse as by the time I get in from work its that sore I just want to collapse!
DH's son & daughter that live with us are going to their mums this weekend for the first time in months and I only have one MS job on sunday so hopefully we might get to spend some time together (with DD in tow obviously!) which will be good.
Last day at work for me today so the weekend starts in a bout 10 hours :T
Have a good day!

Good morning everyone:wave:
Couldn't get on the computer yesterday due to some Microsoft update virus thingy that prevented anyone using the pc. Don't know how long I'll get today. It is very frustrating not being able to surf the net, but a day without it has made me realise just how much time I spend on it!
Yesterday my mum came bearing early birthday presents of wool- specifically two balls each of this wool in these colours (more or less). I'm lucky old Thriftlady I know
I've already made two granny squares for my throw/blanket thing. I'm also going to attempt to make a jacket for an amaryllis in a pot as part of my mum's Christmas present. The pot is tapered so it'll be a bit trickier then the ones in the link.
Supper- yesterday we had leftover meatballs over pasta with grated cheese. Tonight we're having..... hang on, I don't have a plan for tonight....better be baked potatoes stuffed with bacon and cheese plus coleslaw, sweetcorn and salad.
Breakfast - yesterday was Scotch pancakes, today is scrambled eggs or beans on toast. I'm having some dried fruit too.
Lunchboxes- yesterday they had ham sandwiches, flapjacks, apples and satsumas. I had pate and toast.
Today they've got cheese sandwiches on white bread which I made in my new sandwich loaf tin and looks exactly like sliced white (only without all the rubbish and not as evenly cut). They've also got grapes, satsumas and flapjacks and I'll be having pate and toast again.
Must remember to take a couple of chickens out of the freezer for lunch on Saturday (we have friends coming). Must also pot my mincemeat today and go into town in search of an RAF calendar for ds1 which Amazon have been unable to supply:mad: I need to do a bit of baking for the lunchboxes too- white choc chip biscuits maybe?
Have a good day all. I am most definitely not celebrating Thanksgiving- why would you unless you are American?
