can i win????

hi recently bought a car from a garage paid £4,500 it was sold to me as a renault scenic privilege top of range (by advert on auto trader) i have now 2 days later found out it is not a privilege but a lesser model i contacted seller who flatley refused to give money back i then contacted consumer advice who emailed me a template for letter quoting the sales of goods act i rung garage and told him and gave him the chance to give money back before sending letter again told me no and he had his own lawyers on it (law data).
the thing is do i have a chance against him? i dont want to waste my time and money but hate it that i have been conned into buying a lesser model than was told.
thanks for all replies

  • How did you find out it wasn't a privilege model?

  • the key card wasnt working to unlock car when you walked up to it i changed battery still didnt work so went to my local renault dealer who told me it didnt have that and wasnt a privilege
  • did you erm, check to see if it was a Priveledge model before you bought it and signed to say you accepted it?

why didn't you go back to the dealer with the duff card/battery problem?

  • i'm not surprised the dealer didnt want to know if, in two days of ownership you have been to a main agent, been in touch with Consumer direct and have been snotty with the garage lol
  • the garage who i brought from is about 80 miles away so thought i would check localy 1st. only looked at the v5 after finding out, it does not state model when i rung the garage he told me it was an import that was why my local dealer ran the reg for me and it dosent say anywhere what model but they have told me the spec isnt up to a privilege
  • What other features of a privilege is it missing?

That old chessnut - "the dealer is too far away" - but you chose to go to him...

I know it's not concrete, but Scenics have the model in the glovebox.
  • my local dealer told me it should have a console in the middle, leather trim seats, 6 cd changer theyre may be other things to but i have been upset about it and wasnt taking to much in
