www.myroadrage.co.uk allows you to search for bad drivers by county or car. It's a place for people to vent their anger , not actually report the incident! Have fun

I dont see what lining the publics purse has to do with it..it's quite simple..don't break the law you won't get fined..what is wrong with some peoples minds that they don't understand? (not you just saying)..it is like saying well i can jump a red traffic light because i'm in a hurry?? no.
You've slightly missed my point. All the camera's fines etc are justified under the road safety campaing. Take speeding which is biggest example of this. I haven't looked at the figures recently but if you look at the accidents stats over the last few years where speed camera's have become more and more prevelant i doubt you'll see much of a change in the stats. I.e. Catching and fining people is not making a marked difference.
However if you plotted a graph of revenue recieved from driving related fines over the same period. You will see its increased at an exceptional rate.
To summise does catching people and fining them improve road safety...probably no. Does it raise a lot of money for the public purse...yes!!!
My opinion is therefore that this approach is a misguided one. Prevention is better than cure. By all mean retain the fines etc but if you want to genuinely improve road safety tackle the root cause.0 -
The other day the driver behind me was driving dangerously and I wished I could use my phone while driving to report him. I couldn't pull over: it was a busy motorway, similarly, for a while there was no safe way to get out from where I was (making him someone elses problem
) Of course, I did no such thing, thankfully being able to leave at the next exit.
I hve, once seen, a driver busily telling off another driver for being on the phone...and in the process drive into the car in front.
I try to drive well at all times, but I know I'm human, and err occasionally. I wouldn't like to be named and shamed for these errors personally, even if phone talking is not one of them.0 -
Sometimes I see an idiot with a phone held up to their ear, then I see that they're just poking at their hair or something (and possibly singing along), so be careful, but if you do see someone on the phone, HOLD DOWN your horn. This will hopefully stop them from being able to have their conversation, and will hopefully be heard by the person on the other end, who may not have previously been aware that who they are talking to is driving at the same time.
It all (including the school run mums referred to earlier) comes under driving without due care and attention, and you would have been done under this for using a mobile before it became a specific offence.0 -
rather than vent your frustration at drivers etc..
technology is an issue
mobile phone networks and sellers need more to enforce the usage of handsfree equipment
its all wel buying a phone but what about mention the use of bluetooth when buying, or includign it as part of a deal..the costs have decreased from the basic bluetooth costing £5 and upwards..surely thsi should be mandatory now in the sale
technology also is an issue, if you get an incoming call, you need to switch on the bluetooth on the phone and activiate the handsfree..a simpler process should be available.
im not agreeing with the behaviours of drivers esp. with children but its not just drivers that are the issue0 -
Riddle me this....why is it illegal to use a mobile phone but not illegal to use a handheld microphone ISTR ?
http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2003/20032695.htmFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Thanks guys..i agree it will never stop some people but why make it illegal if nothing is done..it's like a speed camera taking a pic then not using it..pointless!!
Lostinrates it is not nice to see is it? i cringe every time i see someone with theirs on..last time dh was off duty and saw one he spoke to the bloke (taxi) as he almost hit someone (was going slow)..he got a load of abuse..should know better really.0 -
almillar i only shout at the ones who i deff know are using a phone..i also see people looking down more than likely using a mobile but tbh you can't be sure..the blatent ones driving along laughing away without a care for anyone else are the ones im talking about.
ACID i agree the sale of bluetooth etc would help but again we are talking about grown adults here who should just KNOW it is wrong to drive with due care and attention..dh's best mate drives a taxi..he has hands free and will use it with customers in the car but ring him when he is on his own then he proudly uses it for all to see..madness seeing as he is getting close to losing his licence!!.. sigh i dunno.
C_Mababejive no idea! the same principal though isnt it..0 -
There is a website where you can name and shame drivers with their registration number.
It covers all matters related to careless drivers, for the life of me I haven't got and can't find the web address.
I may have it as a bookmark on my desktop computer, will look later.
And of course everyone who has been named has been doing something wrong :rolleyes:Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
