New Style Building & Roofing Ltd replaced my roof with sub-standard materials and very poor workmanship. They used a scaffolder who erected illegal scaffolding and mounted scaffolding directly on top of my weak garage roof causing structural damage. They did not use a chute or netting to prevent debris falling from the roof and scaffold and were throwing tiles and debris from the roof into a skip, and the roofers were observed working dangerously on the roof. Falling debris caused damage to my property, including broken waste pipe, broken aerial, badly damaged garage roof, broken leadlight glass in porch, damaged car cover, all amounting to over £800 for me to repair, and finally the local authority’s building inspector refused to pass the work carried out because it did not meet Building Regulations standards. I have been left with a sub-standard roof, done by unskilled workers and the director now refuses to compensate me for the remedial work required to fix my roof after scamming me to pay for work before the job was completed and the building inspector had checked (and failed) the work.
Listed on Trustatrader, who also refused to remove his listing despite being provided with evidence of the appalling work carried out on my house.0 -
I feel very let down by Martin Gray and his wife Debbie (Dee) Gray who come from Hullavington near Chippenham, Wiltshire and who have abandoned the garage conversion at my home in Cirencester with effect from 27th July 2018 without even fitting the Door & Windows which I had paid for.0

Dishonest builder assuring about his own honesty and trustworthiness. He was hired to build the extension to my house. I really trusted him but it transpired that he was calculated and premeditated taking advantage of my lack of experience. The worst was that i agreed to pay them by day which cost me a lot of money with very slow progress due to short working day and plenty of breaks. It was a huge disappointment and he did exactly what he promised not to do. Very sad.0

We've have a small extension of one room thats gone grossly over budget due to the Regs coming out and condemning work that was done. So it all had to be redone.
The contractor has walked of the Job (three weeks past the supposed completions date) because the costs are out of control. We currently have work to the worth of 14K and we've paid them 25K, they are not taking responsibility for the mistakes they make. so we are about 10K out of pocket and currently cannot get our money back.
There is nothing on the internet about them so I thought I would put this up to warn others, if we had seen this post we could have saved thousands.
We have photo's videos, and a diary with time lines of the whole thing logged.0 -
Update on Mark Fittes in the North East.
Mark Fittes = Bowmont = Bowmont Home Improvements = Bowmont Conservatory Roofs and is now believed to be associated with Thermaroof Conservatories and is also selling for other companies.
Do not give him a deposit, only pay cash on delivery, as he has a long history of not delivering on his contract promises yet he will keep the money. See his record on the pages above.
If he has ripped you off contact the police as they are well aware of him. Don’t be afraid to go to them unlike some people who have contacted me.0 -
I've just had to take a builder called Dan Biddlecombe (Daniel Jack Biddlecombe, born May 1992) to the Small Claims court due to breach of contract over a house renovation.
I claimed £9,970 and was awarded the full amount plus costs. I kept my claim below £10,000 because I wanted to go through the Small Claims process.
Dan Biddlecombe is a director of several companies and a couple of now dissolved companies registered to various addresses. He tends to operate in South Wiltshire and North Dorset.
Accepting Dan Biddlecombe to do this job was the worst decision I have made in my life by a hell of a distance.0 -
I used the same builder mentioned above by z101uk, Stav Christou. I also had a terrible experience. He took lots of shortcuts with the construction, and the work was substandard and unfinished. Stav Christou was dishonest and aggressive in his communications. I am still paying others to complete the job and fix his poor workmanship.
UPDATE: After spending thousands trying to fix problems caused and left by Stav Christou, I now have the situation where some issues can't be fixed without knocking down and starting again which is not possible for me. Be very careful before engaging him or his latest company RES Construction Ltd.
I wish I had seen a review of him before starting the project.
Stavros Christou was also recommended Space 120 Architects.0 -
We have just had a conservatory roof completed by Thermaroof. It was a man called Mark, he failed to give us his surname, who negotiated the deal with us. He promised us a new window pane in the conservatory, to fix the door panel and also to issue us with a building regulations compliance certificate. He also promised a professional painter and decorator to complete the job. We paid him £1400 as a deposit and a builder duly appeared to carry out the work. The builder in question and Mark keep telling us we do not need to have the building regs cert (this costs more money) however the building inspector disagrees. There are issues with the electrical work also as the builders have run a 5 amp spur from the 32 mains sockets without a fuse and have cut the earth wire (confirmed by a relative who is an electrician) Luckily we have kept back £500 from the remaining money so can get the remaining works done, but having read your post should we contacting police? Building inspector already informed.0
