Hope you can sort it out Purpletopaz! And really pleased for you mistrihelen. I am feeling like I'm losing the plot - is doesn't look like I can go ahead with the property I've offered on because of the low valuation and results of the survey and the seller won't reduce the price. I really liked the area but there is not much on in that area. I will now be looking at a house in a different area tomorrow that's had a lot of interest and I'm beginning to feel desperate which is not a good look!! Ant advice on how to stay cool?
Copious amounts of wine or/and gin an tonic (not for mistrihelen - a nice massage for you young lady). I do feel for you all. We are nearly there, should complete a week on Monday however I think you will all love this last twist in the tale: When making the deal with the vendor, we agreed an entry date and being Scottish law missives have been concluded based on this. They think we will have lost 8k in redemption fees because we are completing 2 weeks too late. Their property is tenanted and recently found out that the tenants were leasing somewhere else so suggested we pull completion date forward (of mutual benefit to both means we get in earlier and they get their money). Their reply was that they are aware by completing by this date we lose 8k so give them half and they will let us complete early. In a word Blackmail! What is worse is that the vendor is the solicitor so they are tarring their reputation by doing this ( they work for an estate agent where I used to live so I am busy warning friends who are considering selling not to put their houses up for sale with them) - I am NEVER moving again after this EVER especially if it is always like this.
Good luck to you allSmile though your bank is breaking:)0 -
WOHOO Druids54!! Good for you! I hope its all you want and more!
I cant believe some people! How can they even think that! Something like that would never cross my mind! But then in all professions there are good and bad! At least the it will be all over for you shortly! But then making a home will begin!!!
We have not heard anything I think hubby is going to call the Sols tomorrow, see what they have to say. Still packing things up! My bathroom looks really odd!!!

Just your bathroom? My whole house looked really odd when it was packed up. Odd but fab and made me fall in love with it - it's is very queer how much better houses look when empty. Good luck fingers crossedSmile though your bank is breaking:)0

LOL- bedroom is stuffed with boxes and so are the kids rooms just the bathroom with all nic nacks gone, also i spent about 3 hours scraping the transfers off the tiles which we had put on ( just in case the LL didnt like them! ) All my pictures are down in there so its all back to White!! everything!! Except the toilet seat!
Not touched the kitchen or the living room as i have no where else to put anything!
How exciting for you! bet you cannot wait! just the room to spread out again will be fabulous!!!!0 -
My current house purchase is still very much a work in progress... solicitor has done his thing and my mortgage broker has been keeping in touch with the lender I'm applying to - it seems they've got everything in place but now want to seek an employment reference from my employer regarding confirmation of salary details. They've got everything else, including a retype of the mortgage valuation from the Scottish Home Report, so hopefully the mortgage offer will materialise as soon as my employer provides satisfactory confirmation. Fingers crossed anyway!0

Purple topaz- ur packing i bet that is exciting!!
54druids, cant believe they are trying to blackmail you.
I feel lucky, my vendors are a very nice couple and everything is going well between us, they have now offered me all the furniture for free!!!! as a FTB with no furniture this is mega.
Survey is booked for Tuesday, I am a bit sad i checked up on the membership of the surveyor!!! Fingers and toes crossed it brings up no problems, then I get the next hurdle of signing documents from the wrong side of the Atlantic!
Good Luck to everyone!!0 -
Good luck to all of you who have found places recently and are able to exchnage/complete
I've got mine on the market and am tentatively looking (my Mum is looking and in a position to buy right now also). There is a few nice places coming on especially in this last week but they are literally being snapped up in days/weeks! Scarey! It makes you wonder what sort of price they are achieving as there is no way I'd take a huge drop in the price of mine if it hadn't been on the market 5 mins - so are these people getting asking or v close to?? Mum went to see a house last Friday (first to see it), she dithered over the weekend, rang them Mon and it's already under offer! Yikes!
We are renting so I've decided to wait until ours sale (if we are lucky to sell) is signed and sealed before looking too much for a place - just couldn't take losing a house due to our sale falling through. The earliest I think I'll start to view places is when I've exchanged on mine - at least that way a completion date is set. It's such a nightmare selling and buying!0 -
Oh glad to hear every one on their way!
Fingers crossed for you Hauzen! hope the morgage comes through
Tiggerjj How Fantastic for you! what a brilliant offer from your vendors! Ours taking all light fittings sky dish and everything! LOL... Hope all goes well for you as you are now abroad!!! And the survey dosent through anything up!
Hopejack - Good luck Hope you have an offer soon, We were the first to look at this house, and to offer it had been on 6 days when we first looked and they dropped 5,500, i think they already had an eye on a property they wanted but could not offer till they had a good offer! I think you are approaching the sale of your house in a realistic way, I think the vendors accepted our offer as they already had somewhere in mind and didnt want to loose it. I think some people are worried prices will start to rise now too as more people looking, but others say they will fall as more houses on market?? What do you believe... its a tricky one i think!!!
Update - Called Sols today Vendors Sols still not got in touch, So called EA to see what was happeneing - he said all enquireis answered and they should have told our Sols- hope to exchange next week!!!! So Spoke to My Sols again, dont think she very happy with the way vendors Sols have dealt with things - I am so glad we went local for the Sols ( they dealt with My divorce a few years ago ) The EA wanted us to go with the same as the vendors. Dont think they are up to much!
Tolds Sols we would like to complete on 5th march as before but if pushed we can next friday, she said I think as they have mucked you about so much they should go with your date!!! ( which is better for us as we still have over 3 weeks of notice to go ! ) So either 1 week or 2 weeks. My dining chairs arrived today! All eight ! Wohoo table coming next friday.
All i wanna do is eat round a table we have not been able to for some time!
Fingers crossed Alll! Hope there is a productive week!0 -
We're cast our net wider and started looking in different areas. Spent all day yesterday at viewings, saw a place which had 2 sales previously fall through. Agent advertised it as 'willing to accept realistic offers'. We put in an offer today and were told they have been offered full asking price. Got to decide if we'll go over asking. All historcial data shows that the house is at the top of the price range for the area but we've got a good deposit so its affordable for us. It's got the space we need (slightly more than we need), needs some updating but mostly fine. It isn't in the best of areas and isn't the prettiest of houses...but it would do and I'm just so tired of renting and moving.
Just wondering - I like the house - don't love it but not sure I've felt that about most houses in my price range.
Do you 'love' the house you're buying?0 -
