not too sure where all that money was going to come from if they had to pay us all back would have gone way into billions am sure we have all had a charge sometime in our lives. what would have happened then? look at the current state now, with our recession and all sure we would all be better off for a few weeks untill we have all blown our little winfdall, but could have a huge major impact on our lives if they lost.

The FSA have announced that they have removed the waiver on bank charge claims going to court.

"FSA statement following the Supreme Court ruling on bank charges

    25 November 2009
In light of the Supreme Court’s judgment today in the bank charges test case the Financial Services Authority (FSA) can confirm that its waiver has now lapsed.
The waiver was granted during the test case so that firms did not have to deal with complaints about unauthorised overdraft charges in the eight-week-period required under FSA rules while the outcome of the court case remained unclear.
Firms can now resume processing consumers’ complaints in accordance with the FSA’s complaint handling rules."
Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.
You come here for advice, help and support- thats what I and like minded others will try to do.
  • What is this obsession with paying by Direct Debit? Council Tax and utility bills are also payable by cheque or over the counter at Post Offices. You can pay them once your income has cleared into your account and can be sure it won't bounce. Nobody is forced to set up DDs.
    They are an EYESORES!!!!

However I guess that in light of todays ruling that the chances of the bank actually paying out on a cliam are extremely small.

I know I know, clearly I can't manage my finances - well done you for pointing that out.

I obviously should have been able to manage better when my ex partner left me and didn't pay anything towards our joint mortgage, bills, or his 3 week old daughter while I was on maternity leave, and for a long time after.

I should have been able to *magic* that extra £700 a month into my account.

How irresponsible of me to try and stay afloat .

    Like I said - you don't know people's circumstances.

Seriously, you don't have to explain yourself to idiots like that.

They've come on here for one reason, to get a reaction, do what the rest of their family does and ignore them, they'll soon run off :)

Probably getting excited as it's getting near Christmas, I will say something though... at one point in their life something will happen and it'll make them think 'god, I was a loser, why was I like that?'

Not sure if you've noticed, but the banks want to remove cheques from circulation, and post offices are closing down like a liquidators fire sale. Those that are still in place are only open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (when most, although not all, folks are at work) or Saturday mornings; last Saturday I spent an hour in the queue to post a package.

As for online banking, have to say in most cases I love it, but my local council cant manage it; we've had six significant errors in 4 yrs, resulting in a court summons. Fortunately we were not only up to date on our council bill, but the council owed us £900. We got that, but we didnt get an apology. So online banking has its limitations...

Now the Supreme Court has made their decision, I doubt the local courts will grant any refunds, as the precedent has now been set from a higher authority. I hope I am wrong on this, as I am awaiting a refund too.

Having an opinion does not make someone a troll.

Being unable to prove your defamatory claims about a fellow poster makes you a liar.

Not complaining about someone using the term Retard whilst you lie about the words used by someone with an alternative viewpoint, and attempt to ban them, makes you a hypocrite and a censor.

I don't come here often, and it's because of people like you who bring the forum down. Shame on you. I suggest you consider a self-imposed ban for the sake of the wider community.

2 wrongs don't make a right. If you want to hit back at the banking system, buy gold.

I would but I sold it to the TV advert people ;)
