Got to admit if I had someone on end of phone saying they wanted to end it I would probarly just advise they are timewasting and wanting attention - get themselves together there are people out there who are not self pittying and need help so if they want to jump just do it, but dont hurt anyone else when doing it.
Not into any of that volunteering rubbish, leave that to the hippies and do gooders who want to do something in a vain attempt to justify their existance.
As I thought, it's one of the bankers with the big bonuses!! :rotfl:0 -

thats an absolutly dreadful thing to say!! i for one refuse to get into a slanging match with you but really feel you need to take time to reflect on your attitude because sad as it is to say, you could become one lonely old soul in yrs to come.self confessed 80's throwback:D

atlastcommonsense wrote: »I must agree, simple maths come into play if you have £100 in your account then you should not spend £101.
If you do spend £101 and you signed an agreement saying an 'UNAUTHORISED' overdraft will cost you £35 then you have to pay the £35
People make mistakes and I have forgotten to pay my credit card once and got a £12 charge, as it was the first time I called them up and they refunded and I think most banks would do the same.
If the banks would have lost then it would have meant the end of free banking, free cash withdrawls and the like which means the majority of us would have suffered for the few who can not deal with money.
As for Martin Lewis, his smug grin annoys me at the best of times - It has been wiped off for now but hes made a fortune out of this and coming accross as the 'consumer king' when in reality hes a jumped up t###er who took on the big boys and got a beating.:money:
The banks are a business, in it to make money - If you don't like it then (1) dont go overdrawn, learn to count (2) goto another bank if you dont like yours (3) get a kiddies account or passbook account that doesnt allow you to spend more than you have and once you have mastered the art of 'budgeting' then you may be trusted with a cashcard.
Thank god for common sense by the courts for once, and as for the comments the court was 'bribed' come on, try and get out more (without spending money obviously as you dont want that overdraft to increase).
A good day for the MAJORITY of people out there who are FED UP of supporting idiots and others who get themselves in the s##t and want bailing out :T:T:T:T:T
relationship broke down previously 2 x wages coming in, the same household bills and outgoings with only 1 x wage thus resulting in debt starting to creep in extortionate bank charges start to get charged then you're slowly start to sink in to debt starts to get out of control because you cant pay the bank charges resulting in even more debt and even more bank charges you're in a viscious circle you cant get out of debt because the banks keep charging you extortionate charges. What starts of as a small debt results in a massive debt before you know it, I struggled and ended up getting an IVA where i paid back all apart from 1.5% of my debt I had to remortgage to do it so im still technically paying this debt back. Life is not always a bed of roses when yes we may go £1 over but then we get charged £35 for doing so this is what we are fighting against its these extortionate charges when in reality (admin fees ) cost £3-4!!!0 -
Tensions are high & tempers are frayed, i think that fresh air is needed by all, take a deep breath & ponder for a while.
This is far from over from the consumers point of view, we will have our day, maybe not now but, one day soon!
Let the dust settle & the people with the knowledge to scrutinise the ruling & then lets just see. Keep smiling all is not lost.
Good point well made@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/? Feb = 5/14 Mar = 14/20 Apr = 6/14 May = 2/14 June 2/14 July 0/TF Aug 1/TFv Sept 6/TF Oct 4/7"NEVER DOUBT YOUR OWN QUALITY"0 -

The_Hallowed_Way wrote: »Blimey. This forum has taken a dive whilst I was away. Is it now the done thing to report every post that you don't like? I can't imagine how many posts the mods get every day from people choosing to take offence at things which don't concern them.
Its actually the first time Ive ever reported a post. Suggesting that committing suicide is a valid course of action is pathetic. From a personal viewpoint, Ive had to stop blood pouring from my brother's wrists and stick my fingers down my sisters throat after a bout of pill swallowing.
I have no problem with him expressing a view on banking - whether or not Ive agreed with his viewpoint - but recommending suicide is socially and morally irresponsible0 -

I hope your mother is suitably ashamed of the sad pathetic excuse for a human she has raised.
THanks for challanging that! I was really shocked at the turn of the discussionI
I've worked since leaving college at 17 and now at 37 at the beginning of this year lost my job due to ill health and have since been diagnosed with ME. Being out of work spiralled me into debt to try to keep a roof over mine and my sons head. I have tried to claw back bank charges under hardship rules and this is a massive blow to me. My mental health has seriously suffered as a result of this. I have never claimed benefits and have to work whether I am ill or not or feel like ending it all.
For information ME is caused by a virus in the system that makes the immune system lowered, I did not ask to be ill and dont even know when I had the virus or why my body reacted like this.
Comments about suicide attempts are shocking and I hope that no one ever has to suffer clinical depression of that degree. Its not fun having panic attacks in the middle of the night where you think your body is dying.
Think about what you are saying!!0 -
Meanwhile, back at the bank charges forum...
I think the banks are in so much trouble that these charges are just the public excuse at the moment. With the situation they are in, they were always going to put charges here and there and it was the end of free banking. This was shown by their new current accounts they try to get you to sign up to, with a monthly fee for travel insurance and such things you probably wouldn't use or could get cheaper elsewhere. They now do not have the excuse that they are paying back bank charges but I'm pretty sure we'll all still see fees being added here and there. If they were so sure they weren't doing anything wrong, why refund millions of pounds in "goodwill gestures"? Since when have the banks done anything with "goodwill"?0 -
