Well done on getting all your Xmas gifts sorted!
I'm finding it hard not to open my penny jar at the momentCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
Phase 1 - Emergency Fund - Complete :j
Phase 2 - £20,000 Mortgage Fund - Underway0 -
Last overpayment for 2009 was made today, £385..........which I thought was pretty good considering its Xmas. (managed to get quite a few gifts out the way during the year so no big bills at the end of the year!)
Here is an update of how we have done since we switched to our RBS Offset mortgage at the end of 2007.
Oct 07 - Dec 07 : Start: £64,000 - End: £61,737
Payments: £1,130 + Overpayments: £1,133
Total Paid: £2,263
Jan 08 - Dec 08 : Start: £61,737 - End: £51,293
Payments: £6,780 + Overpayments: £3,664
Total Paid: £10,444
Jan 09 - Dec 09 : Start: £51,293 - End: £39,521
Payments: £6,780 + Overpayments: £4,992
Total Paid: £11,772
My spreadsheet prediction for Dec 2010 is to get just under £27,000.

Once we are mortgage free my next goal is to have a set amount of savings by the end of each year. Would love to be able to retire early or reduce work ours etc.
Cheers,

Just got an unexpected £100 (before tax) Xmas bonus at work, nice one!
Will be adding this to my January overpayment!5/10/12 : Mortgage Free0 -
£1242 overpayment went in today (largest I have ever made)
This consisted of:
Monthly direct debit overpayment: £385
Change pot (collected during 2009): £61
Couple of items sold + small Xmas bonus + planned yearly OP: £796
Good start to 2010 :cool:5/10/12 : Mortgage Free0 -
well done on those OPs :T:T0

Thanks!
Gives me a warm feeling inside and a nice dent in my mortgage spreadsheet!!
When I deposited the change pot at my bank the cashier asked "what I was going to buy with the savings", when I told her it was going in the mortgage she gave a half smile then a look as if to say...why? :rolleyes:5/10/12 : Mortgage Free0 -
After reading about the Halifax/Bank of Scotland 'Reward' accounts on the MSE boards I decided to open two Reward accounts (sole+joint).
Just received my first two £5 rewards for January........£10 a month for ~2 minutes work online!
This will give me an extra £10 per month which I will build up (£120) and add to my January overpayment.5/10/12 : Mortgage Free0 -
Hi there - congratulations on the Reward accounts - mine have netted me £90 so far... well worth having for a few clicks per month!!
