Hiya Jock,
Grand. I'm in a similar boat with the SLC just now. Just under £10k but at a negligible interest rate so it doesn't make any sense paying it off any quicker than the normal salary deduction demands. Will still be nice to be shot of it though.
Cheers,

August overpayment and Septembers regular mortgage payment now off bringing us down to £15,775.
We have reduced the mortgage by just over £10k this year so far, looking to get the balance down to just under £12k by the end of 2011.
Coin pot now sitting at £151 and BoS rewards at £80, which means we have an additional £231 to use as an OP, this should reach over £300 by the end of the year (based on previous years).

Just had an update through for my PEP, its dropped £2.5k in value
Puts a bit of a dent in my overall savings.
However the PEP is for the long term so hopefully will bounce back in years to come!!5/10/12 : Mortgage Free0 -
Hi Jock,
Ouch! That's a proper sore one - hopefully still a good bit above what has been put in though.
On a seperate note, isn't it about time we were moving the mortgage countdown to days!?

Hi Jock,
Ouch! That's a proper sore one - hopefully still a good bit above what has been put in though.
It was an investment which was started by my parents, they gave us each £3k toward a PEP (me, my bro and sister) as long as we added £3k ourselves. Mine was sitting at £14,244 before the update, now £11,750 (damn markets!)On a separate note, isn't it about time we were moving the mortgage countdown to days!?
Cheers,
Billy
