We have just increased the fixed monthly overpayment direct debit by another £25 bringing the total to £500. This will be the last increase which will see us meet our goal of being mortgage free in November with the remaining regular and fixed overpayments.

6 regular mortgage payments and 7 fixed overpayments remaining.

    166 days to go.

May's overpayment off, now down to £6,390

June's regular mortgage payment should have been off but not showing up yet, could be delayed due to the double bank holiday.

We will be off to Vegas next year to celebrate being MF and also our 10 year wedding anniversary, big group of friends/family are coming as well!

Tips: we have an offset mortgage so every penny counts, have been 100% offset for several years so pay no interest. Ramped OP's up to £500pm and any bonuses, salary increases etc go into the mortgage. Also get best rates for current accounts, savings, Free £5's from reward accounts, every little helps ;)

We are also on an offset mortgage, which is fully offset. It is a great feeling not paying any interest to the bank and seeing the balance come down every month. Unfortunately, we owe a lot more than you!!

Very well done and you can now really see the light at the end of the tunnell.

Its just starting to sink in that in 5 months time we will be mortgage free!!

We started our mortgage free quest back in Oct 2007, its been a long journey but the end is now coming into sight.

The mortgage free in three take two challenge (MFiT-T2) has helped us focus on our goals and the encouragement has been fantastic. It came at just the right time and I don't think we would have gotten this far without it.

For those who are starting out or have several years left, KEEP AT IT.......the feeling of only having a handful of months left is fantastic and well worth the slog :)

    All the best,
    Jock
