  • Hi,
I wrote to them back in november about mis sold ppi and they wrote back and sent a copy of the agreement with the optional ppi insurance highlighted. They told me it was explained as optional at the time and said they wouldnt refund me. I took the loan out in 2005 and was told I had to have the insurances or I wouldnt get the loan. I sent a letter to FOS and they wrote back saying it was too late to look into it now. I wrote my own letter, didnt realise there was one on here. Can I do anything now? x

    Hi chickencurry

    Keep going.

Did they tell you this over the phone or in the office? If it was over the phone it should have been recorded.

    Good luck

    Hi there

Do you mean you wrote to the FOS in November 2009?

If so that should be okay because normally its from the final letter from the business and 6 months from there, where the FOS are able to investgate.

Sorry If I have mis read on this, but if this is the case I would contact the FOS again and tell them its a 6 month timescale as from the final letter.

Good luck, please let is know how you get on.

    Hi there

And yes you can, reqiest for the interest as well, I would put it into writing only.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond, keep at them, if they do not resolve in your favour then move on to the financial ombudsman service (FOS).

Good luck, please keep us posted.:)

    Hi,
they sent me a letter confirming this was their stance. When you say keep going do you have any advice as to what I should do now? Do I try FOS again or Welcome? Thanks x
  • Hi

I would go straight to the FOS this time.

    Good luck

Is this Welcome's letter? If Welcome have given this as their final response, you should then complain to the FOS.
  • Wrote a letter on 20th Jan and got a letter saying no. Got a phone call a few days later saying that the response was incorrect as the claim was in the time allowed and got a letter Saturday am saying that they will offer me £1010 as a good will payment as they do not think it possible that i was miss sold the PPI cover....yeah but the main thing is i should have a cheque on the way very very soon.

    Hi,
that was Welcome's final response. Spoke to FOS and they dont want to know as the final response from welcome was over 6 months ago. Guess I should probably just give up?
