Weezl, Rachel Allen did a pasta recipe with no machine - cut chopped on work surface so will have a bash - after sterilising due to puss!! When you did yours did you use pasta/00 flour or normal?
I used normal flour, not sure if it was as good, but lots cheaper. I think it just raises the protein content, so maybe you could try adding a little milk powder or an egg yolk?
how much butter to pasta ratio? Sounds like a frugal dish for filling up Mr Weezl!
isom try freecycle for a pasta machine, I bet people are decluttering after christmasx

Knitting is good with babies as can be put down and picked up easily , loads of patterns on the net for crafty stuff scarves are easy , i gave 3 this year and six last year , noone else to make one for now
Jewellery might be ok if you had a lap tray type thing that you can pput out of reach
Sewing can be broken down into smaller jobs - quilts for example Ironing fabric, cutting squares(or whatever) ,sewing strips, ironing again , sewing again etc you get the picture my fave make of last year was my throw

heres throw I am making at the mo - fairly easy except for using round needles as its big! Suspect it will get heavy! In terms of attern easy to pick up and put down and easy to see were you last were iykwim. Weezl if you want a knitty lesson/help with patterns etc or to borrow sewing book let me know! Can deff reccomend making presents - it did take ages (one advantage of being home all day) but they were cheap and people loved them (weezl can you post piccy of mitts?)...I have a blanket from mum that I am thinking about dying and making into felt and then doing teas cosies etc...would get loads out of it...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! I have quite a few jean greehowe booklets one of which is where the nativity is in . If you wanted i could copy some for you if you know what you want . theres a lovely snowman which the babies would like .
I have loads of wool oddments and have toyed with selling it on ebay but in true frugal fashion have decide to make something to sell instead hopefully adding some value, eith doll clothes or baby clothes as some of these sell really well to people with those reborn dolls.....*****
