    Hi all

been a bit busy with christmas prep but back with a few MFW updates.

we managed a cash-neutral christmas :j:j:j (this is where christmas is completely eaten up by cashback received from credit card spends throughout the year, or little bits and bobs found along the year at boot sales which came out of fun budget or homemade foodie gifts swallowed up in normal food shopping budget)

I have managed to move our mortgage payment date to the first of every month, was the 15th. As Halifax calculate interest daily, I can't think why I didn't work out years ago that those 15 days were costing us money!

santa brought me a sun jar and an electricity monitor so I'm keeping a more accurate watchful eye on our consumption :)

All ready to make January's overpayment of £3300 :D. OPs will be lower as the year goes on as I begin maternity leave, so I'm squirreling away as much as I can now :)

And here's a little pic of our son enjoying his first christmas:

How gorgeous is he! :A Looks like he's continuing that age old tradition of playing with the boxes and ignoring the toys too :rotfl:

I think you'll be needing it too!! :T

Advanced warning: I intend to pick your brains about baby equipment once I get past 12 weeks (don't worry, I belong firmly in the washing-up bowl for a bath camp!)

  • cheerfulness thanks for your advice re:cost of breadmaker. I am still thinking of making my own dough as it is a big timesaver, but i will probably still use the BM for making loafs.

weezl what a cute photo. No wonder you wanted a second one. My two are being so cute at the moment it makes me broody again but i must resist for now at least. :rotfl:My two also loved the boxes. They spent about 3 weeks before xmas playing in a box we had our new computer delivered in. One week as it came, then the 2nd week i cut windows and a door in and it became a house. I was going to do a box of balloons as a present but totally ran out of time. Cheap and very entertaining. My two were perfectly happy with just their stockings but we spoiled them a bit too much. then my mum and sisters spoilt them even more, and we still have the in-laws to go yet. I think i might need a new house before next xmas.

courgette congratulations are in order i take it. :j  I really must get up to date with everyones threads. I also could help out with frugal baby advice in terms of essential needs and feeding them cheaply on home cooked stuff. I hate to admit i went the disposable nappy route though so not as frugal as i could be, but if you saw some of the nappies i changed you would probably excuse me.

They look so sweet in their matching red outfits don't they? Mine was a little red reindeer...hand me down from DD1...poor girl!!!

I agree these leccy monitors are quite an eye opener....microwave and toaster are bad, bad, bad. The sky box uses as much power on standby as on....freezes when swirched off at the mains = 10% of the weekly leccy count:mad: On a more positive note, the radio in the kitchen uses just 0.4 watts per hour = very cheap entertainment!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the xmas break.
