The beta version will be available for download soon. I got mine through my mate as his company is a subscriber to the Technet Subscription service. It is coming to non subscribers soon as well although I dont know if thats just technet members (but not subscibers) or anyone who wants it just like office 2007 is now.

    FROM MICROSOFT VISTA BETA SITE

Microsoft will start the Windows Vista Customer Preview Program (CPP) for developers and IT professionals who are not members of the subscription services.

The Windows Vista CPP will also be available to technology enthusiasts that want to install and test a copy of Windows Vista Beta 2.

It looks like microsoft might release Vista as a public BETA same as they have done with Office 2007 so anyone can download and install it. This is one way to get feedback to get rid of a lot of bugs before final release.

This means I can get it on my test Desktop instead of this bloody laptop

Any links for this Office 2007?
Also, what's the security like with the office 2007?
Is it a bad idea to have the BETA on an internet connected PC?

Sorry mate but you obviously dont have a legit Beta as it states on the readme file in the beta directory and on the beta e-mail you should have recieved the specs of the machines...

    they are

    Q. What is required to run Windows Vista?
    A. If you purchased a PC in the last two years, chances are good that you can run Windows Vista today. To install and run the core functionality of Windows Vista, you need:

    An 800 MHz processor
    512 MB of RAM
A 20 GB hard drive with 15 GB of free space
Advanced features, like the new user experience Windows Aero, require advanced or additional hardware

If its running slow on the 2.5GHz pc then you are doing something wrong. Mine is fine on my old 900Mhz Laptop

what a bizarre post! erm.. define slow?! A 900mhz machine is slow whatever you run on it lol. I wouldnt run XP on that, blimey what can you do with those min specs, 512mb RAM lol - you clearly aint a power user. lol imagine getting visual studio, or SQL server runing on that spec machine! Ah thats just funny.

Geesh every man and his dog has the beta - its been doing the rounds for ages.

bizarre??? not understandy what you are saying... I replied to a post that said it was slow on a 2.5GHz pentium... I replied it ran fine on my 900Mhz laptop... you are digging the wrong guy here mate I never even said my Laptop had 512MB ram it has 1024 You are getting confused me thinks

The purpose of beta is to run it on all spec of machines not just high powered. As I stated in another post.. when it becomes available to the non subscribers I will then put it on my High Powered Desktop test rig and see how it goes.

    BTW

    SQL Minium Spec

    http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/express/sysreqs.mspx

    Visual Studio 2005 Minimum Specs

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/support/readme/default.aspx

Looks like my laptop would run both..... Now THATS funny

Microsoft have released the public beta, or test version, of Windows Vista. You can download it or order it on DVD from here.

Silly boy, I did actually put the confused smileys and did state Beta Coporate User for MS = msdn subscriber that I clearly forgot about, and if you did win the lottery you wouldnt want vista.
