Have used a few more bits but need to update my list, but I've been bad. I went to the butchers today and bought 6 chicken breast fillets, a tray of sausages, a tray of chipolatas, a tray of beefburgers and a tray of pork steaks - all to go in the freezer. Then when I went ot the supermarket they had trays of meatballs on the reduced shelf so I bought 3 for the freezer :o

LOL I don't think you're a lost cause Kaz - I think the main thing is to have some rotation of what is in there - otherwise you have things from 3 years popping their heads up and no room for stuff you actually WANT :)

Thanks - luckily I do have the dates on my list and anything 'old' is in red for using up first. Desperate for a recipe for sardines at the mo before they get past their best.

:o I'm afraid that it would take more energy than I have to list everything in cupboards!

I have a tin cupboard, a packets cupboard, a narrow herb shelf, a narrow sauces cupboard, a 3 shelf freezer and a slighly unreliable 4 shelf freezer in the garage (that I mainly use to freeze bread).

Friday we had a "store cupboard" day using up beefburgers, last of chips and beans. We then had pizza for tea. A result as we were going travelling and normally would have bought McDonalds on the way. Our tea was therefore £2 rather than £10!:j

Yesterday ate at relatives! Were given some bread to bring home!:D

Today I am defrosting a small piece of lamb, cumberland sausages. Then intend to use mixed beans tin plus onion, mushrooms, carrot from fridge, spinach, cabbage from freezer. I might try and add some lentils or something from store cupboard (bought on an optimistic day - as none of us are keen on lentils). Plus frozen roast potatoes. Gravy granules.....

Yup! Still trying to use more than I replace for the cupboard, but I'm torn with getting a few bits in, should the predicted bad harvests start to kick in.

What are you folks doing? I succumbed to a box of instant mash yesterday, but seriously hope I never have to use it IYSWIM :o

I'm not sure what to do for the best myself. I think I'm going to do an online shop of things like the biggest bag of pasta/rice etc. I won't bother with the potatoes as we don't really eat that many now unless they're as jacket spuds. Since there's only the two of us now I can easily bulk out stuff ;)

I did however buy 10 bags of hovis breadmix from Asda today (5 granary, 5 white) :o My idea being that I can turn them into baps quite easily and it will be quicker mid-week for a quick fix for pack ups since I have to go out to "work" as of next week :eek: My problem is having the motivation to turn all that food into meals when I've been working or studying all day :o:o

Any suggestions on what to do with it all? The problem is that Dh is on a low carb diet so at the moment can't eat things like pasta, rice, lentils etc.

But me and dd (2yrs) can eat what we like :D
I have a breadmaker & slowcooker if that helps!

    Hi PizzaLover

I haven't finished my store cupboard inventory yet, but I reckon it would be similar to yours:cheesy:

Anyway, posted earlier in this thread (much earlier - about two years ago if memory serves) and recently mentioned on the September grocery challenge is:

    http://www.cookingbynumbers.com/

You tick boxes for what you have in & it gives you ideas & the recipes! Haven't tried any yet but seems a good idea!

Also, on page 1 of the September grocery challenge are a list of recipes with the links to go to them.

    Hope this helps!

BTW don't worry too much about the date on the channa dal, mine (2kg tub) says June 08 & its fine. Indian veggie ex said that it doesn't go off & best before dates are just guidelines on non-perishables.
