  • A huge bag of spinach left from my veg box delivery. I'm not overly keen on spinach, it always comes out limp and unappetising

Veggie lasagne with lentils and normal red and white sauces
    Spinach and ricotta pasta dish
    Spinach and potato curry

What can I make with a bag of frozen pollock fillets. Big bag, need to feed 3 adults and 3 kids. I find it gets really watery when I bake it... any suggestions?

I put fish like that in red/green thai curry....
Put it in with courgette and egg plant and you can feed a lot of people...
    Do you need a recipe?
At our house it goes down a treat.

I second adding it to curry.

Or - and this is my favourite - creamy spinach soup, with smoked salmon pieces added to the bowl just before serving (that is the posh version, I do that sometimes for dinner parties) or with poached egg for the every day version.

Another vote for cream of spinach soup. I'm not that keen on spinach, but I love this soup. Again, a recipe is available on request.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

Yes, it sometimes tastes different then your "steamed spinach", or the taste you have normally associated with spinach, doesn't it?
And when you add the salmon to it it is soooo luxurius!
I only put like a table spoonfull of salmon bits into each bowl as well, and you can buy the salmon bits of smoked salmon which are much cheaper so it doesn't come out that expensive.
  • A poor old jar of 0valtine has been lurking in my cupboard for….let’s say a while, though still within its BBD…just, but nobody really likes it as a drink.

I found a recipe for a cake on t’internet – which has turned out fine, milder than a malt loaf and not as sticky – I may reduce the milk & sugar and add some syrup next time. Also trying out some choc & 0valtine brownies which are cooking as I type and they smell dee - licious :j.

Wondered if anybody had any other recipe ideas for it?

    Thanks in advance.

You stick in what ingredients you have lying around and then it searches recipes for you :) not as fun as posting suggestions on here, but if you're looking for a quick fix, I swear by it

I have a few things in the fridge that I could do with using up over the next month, suggestions welcome please.

    BBQ sauce
    Capers
    Caramelised onion chutney

  • BBQ sauce....
brush over any meat prior to grilling - sausages, burgers, chops, steaks.

Make up a tasty butter...blitz up some butter with bbq sauce, some chives/spring onions and use for topping corn on the cob, grilled meat and fish. Just have it on bread.

Add to home made or jar tomato sauce for a tangy pasta sauce.

Add to some grated cheese, finely chopped onion and mayo for a tasty sandwich spread....it's even better on a toasted sandwich.

    Capers

I used to make a lemony sauce with eggs and with capers which was supposed to be served with veal, but I served it with pork fillet. Cannot for the life of me remember the name of the sauce now. If I remember or find it, will post.

    Sprinkle over pizza.

Add to mayo with some lemon juice and perhaps some chopped gherkins to serve with fish.

Caramellized onion chutney ---- easy peasy, give that to me! :rotfl:

Use it on a cheese sandwich/toastie.
    Lovely with cheese and biscuits.
    Add to pizza.
    Serve with cold meats/salad.
