Some instructions on a nice little site call katheats.om on cooking spaghetti squash. Let me know how you get on, as I've never tried it but I think I've just bought some seeds to try growing it next year.
85% chocolate??? Eat it!
Thanks, will definately try the chutney, will leave out the Raisins though, it just sounds wrong! The chutney can join the jars and jars of blackberry jam from my foraging.
See, I'm not sure on eating spaghetti squash as a base with kingprawns, courgette etc, just in case I hate the squash and the rest is wasted. Maybe I should do rice and the squash and the stir fry....and just not mix up.
Lol eat the choc....I am hooked on 70percent Green & Blacks but 85 percent is toooooo rich.0 -
Thanks for the marmite spaghetti one, its a hit with my fussy eaters!0

...and lastely, A$da included an 85% bar of chocolate in my order by accident. Any ideas other than brownies/rocky road?
I put a square or two in when I make chilli, it really enhances the flavour. I didn't use it on my latest batch (the chocolate had gone mouldy in the cupboard and I had to throw it out ) and I can really taste the difference with it missing. This only works with good quality, high cocoa contents chocolate.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Used up my spaghetti squash in something like this :
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/27/spaghetti-squash-with-zuc_n_1057237.html
I roasted mushrooms, onions, courgettes, a homegrown pepper, garlic and lots of cherry toms from the garden. Added feta cheese to the top. Was ok....but I wouldn't actually buy a spaghetti squash, this one was given to me.
I microwaved it, seemed to be cooked fine0 -

You could roast the green tomatoes too. Something I have never done, as doesn't seem to be a problem here with tomatoes ripening.
Have a look at this link for info.

Hi Asparagus! This looks very doable to me, it sounds as if you need about 7 evening meals. I'm not the best at this, but here are a few of my ideas:
1. Cheese pizza, salad on the side (use your tinned tomatoes for the sauce or buy a carton of passatta for around 30p).
2. A lentil soup similar to this one: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/333614/red-lentil-chickpea-and-chilli-soup
vary it so you don't have to buy any spices, and it is fine to leave out the chickpeas--I prefer it that way!
3.Chicken goujons, chips, peas
4. Tuna pasta bake
5. Jacket spuds with beans
6. Soup of your choosing made with some of Aldi supersix (perhaps leek and potato?
7.Leek and bacon risotto
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/827639/leek-and-bacon-risotto
(You don't have to use the chives, use stock instead of wine and use what cheese you've got--it might taste different, but should still be lovely--oh and plain rice is fine too)0 -
ooh, fab ideas!
the risotto sounds lovely, and why did I not think of baked potatoes??
its like not seeing the wood for the trees sometimes.
my brain really is full of cotton wool atm, need to sort myself out
thanks so much :TLIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Fish finger pie
Fish fingers
Baked beans
Mashed potato
About 30z (75g) Grated cheese
Grill fish fingers and player in the bottom of a shallow dish
Top with a can of baked beans then a layer of mashed potato.
Sprinkle over the grated cheese
Put in a moderate oven about 180c for 20 minutes or until the top is golden.
Serve with frozen veg of choice- Tuna pasta
- Tuna plait (basically tuna, with cooked rice, some sweetcorn, peas or mixed veg and a few chopped boiled eggs in pastry )
- Basa fish cakes (Flake the basa with mashed potato and herbs, dip the cakes in egg and breadcrumbs and oven bake or fry
Bacon pasta
Chop the bacon and fry, then add a tin of tomatoes plus some fried onion, a clove or two of garlic and some herbs and any veg that you have such as sweetcorn, peas etc serve with pasta.
Alternatively you could serve with rice as a bacon and tomato risotto.
Goujons and chips with peas
HM pizza using the passata as a base and pop on any topping that you like use either the cheese that you have or buy a mozzarella ball for 44p in Aldi.
The super six this week is really good
new potatoes
parsnips
onions
carrots
swede
leeks
all at 59p
A small chicken is £2.99 and can be stretched to four meals for two easily- Roast one day using one breast
- Pie using the other breast with some bacon and a white sauce
- Curry, stir fry etc with the legs and wings
- On the last day make a chicken noodle soup with the carcass and any meat that is left on it.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

the even better thing is, you have given me some alternate meals I never would have thought of, my meals seem so repetitive sometimes.
