  • Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas what I could make with oat bran or wheat bran? I'm not very keen on cakes or biscuits so none of those please! Although savory biscuits would be ok :)

I brought quite a bit of each when I started the dukan diet but gave up on the diet after a couple of days and they are now taking valuable shelf space!

I have used some of the oatbran in burgers instead of bread crumbs which worked well but I don't make burgers that often so could do with some other ideas please?

    TIA!

    Evening all

I wonder if you could help me, I've recently separated from my husband and I have lost my way.

I have cupboards and freezers of food but I just have no inspiration to do anything. Would it be possible if I listed the contents for some advice please.

    Many thanks.

    Of course you can x

I use wheat bran when I make breakfast muffins with dried fruit, which I eat as a snack around 10.30 am at work. Let me know if you want the recipe. Also, I put a spoon or so on top of my fruit before adding the breakfast cereals and the milk.

Yes please! They sound like they will be a quick and handy breakfast if I make them in advance :D

Hi, yes i too have loads of the stuff, being on slimfast, it helps keep you fuller longer. You can put a handful into milkshakes, but it does make them a bit cerealy at the bottom, i don't mind too much, as i do it for the fibre. I suppose you could put into caseroles to thicken, but never done this myself.

Got about 1.5kg of carrots, same of onions, bunch of celery and just over half a kilo of white pots and sweet potatoes. Just looking for some inspiration!

Made a veggie shepards pie last night with green lentils, was lovely :)

Have got lots of store ingredients, tinned tomatoes, herbs, pasta, rice, tins of different beans etc

    Thank you x

  • You could make a really nice veggie ragu for pasta.
Chop up equal amounts of onion, carrot and celery into really small dice, sweat off in a touch of olive oil, if you've got red wine add a good slug of it now, then add tinned tomatoes and simmer til cooked through, season to taste.

Bean chilli, sweat off diced onion , carrot and celery (and garlic if you have it), add as much chilli as you like (i usually add about teaspoon of chilli flakes). Add tinned beans, tinned tomatoes and a cup of water/veggie stock.season to taste. Simmer til cooked through.

Leave out the celery, and make a veggie curry with chick peas.

Leave out the celery - again! - and chop the veggies into big chunks and slow roast with italian-type herbs...throw some cherry toms in towards the end...yum!

Chop veggies up small, saute in oilve oil and add rice or couscous cooked in veg or chicken stock - can be eaten hot or cold.

Make a sweet potato soup - crumble some cheese on top when serving.

    Am really hungry now! :D

  • I suggest a vegetable casserole with dumplings. OH loves this. Put veg in a large pan and stock to cover I use water and marigold powder and a slug of tomato puree if I have it. Simmer until veg are nearly soft then add beans of choice. I like baked beans or you could use red lentils-if so add with veggies. Then put in dumplings-I use a mix....cover and simmer for about 25 mins until cooked yummy!

It's even better the next day and I have been known to add curry to it and serve with rice/naan. Enjoy!
