I managed to make a really cheap meal that filled me and the OH up really well- whats more can be frozen and he can take it to work for night shifts
Pasta (i have lots of "bits" in packets left
Cambells chicken condensed soup
Turkey (much cheaper than chicken- if you get the thin sliced bits they are lovely!)
optional- mozzarella
cook pasta, add soup, brown turkey, mix all together in oven dish (pop cheese in chunks), oven for around 30mins...really nice gooey creamy pasta bakegreat with some garlic bread and super cheap...nice way to use up bits of pasta we find in bags..cos im sure we all find half finished bags!
Need a new start..wheres good to live in the UK?!0 -
Hi everyone! Didn't like to start a new thread for this little question so hope it's ok to post it on here.. I am trying to clear out my cupboards to gain a bit of space and hopefully save some money in the process and I have about 2 thirds of a box of kellogs crunchy nut clusters which have been hanging around for a while because I'm not too keen on them - they are basically oat clusters with nuts, honey and probably alot of sugar, I have posted a picture below to jog memories. Anyway, my partner has been on at me to make some flapjacks so I thought maybe I could kill 2 birds with one stone and use these to make the flapjacks. Any ideas on how I should go about it? I have the usual baking stuff, golden syrup, and honey.
Thanks in advance!0 -

I haven't tried the cereal, but if it was me I'd melt some golden syrup or honey with some butter, then pour over the cereal, perhaps with some plain oats if you've got any to dilute the sweetness a bit (but then I haven't got much of a sweet tooth, so it might be fine for you), stir together, then pour into a lined baking tin and cook in the oven until done.
Sorry I can't be more precise with timings or amounts - I've only ever made flapjacks by eye.
I hope they turn out tasty!Back after a very long break!0 -
Thanks CCP, I'll give them a try
I don't have any other oats but they should be fine as partner always reminisces about the very sweet flapjacks he had in school so they should be just right for him! I wont be eating them as I'm not keen on flapjacks - more of a chocolate girl :rotfl:

I'm back  My freezer has filled up again, and I need to do something about it before the festive season
Today I made a load of bread into breadcrumbs. I used some of them in a sausage and bean casserole. I alos found a lolly and decluttered that :T:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

You're doing well :T
DD and I had a lunch plate of leftover bits of chorizo, parma ham, stilton, and cheddarI spiced it up with some HM pickles and preserved chillis.
For tea, we're having the end of a meatloaf - nice but I don;t think I'll be making another in a hurry:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Well tonight tea was made up of some free soup from the other week (2 tins) and some bread made from a mix I got from @pproved food months ago so the total cost for tonight tea (except for the electricity of course) was 20p for BOTH of us
Now to run down the rest of the stocks. I did cheat slightly the other day by throwing out about 6 cans of stuff, but they were WELL past their best before date & I decided as money saving as I can be there was no way I was going to eat tinned food 3 YEARS past its date :eek:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
This store cupboard challenge is us two for te next week!!! Hubby currently making a big omelette just now with whatever else he can find in the cupboards. No more food being bought until payday next wek for me!!!!!
Snowy:j I feel I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe :j0 -
