Soya milk and tofu are both great (and healthy) whizzed up in a blender with fruit to make smoothies. The tofu makes it nice and thick.

Replace normal milk with soya milk (cereal / in tea etc.) tastes different but ok.

Tofu can just be cut up in chunks and used to replace meat in stir fries etc. I haven't tried them all but think you do a lot of things you would do with meat with tofu.

After the roast, use the noodles, some left over chicken scraps, any leftover veg and fresh veg to bulk up and make a stir fry.

Make an enormous casserole with the swede, onions, carrots, beef, lentils. Use the leftovers to make either a pie (leftover casserole in an oven dish, top with ready made puff pastry) or a shepherd's pie (casserole in dish, top with mashed potato).

Make cod with cheesy white sauce

Make cakes with the eggs, sr flour, marg, sugar and dried fruits and nuts.

    Meringue topped with Kiwi fruit

Deep-fried tofu (perhaps using millet instead of breadcrumbs)? (http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/deepfriedtofuwithnoo_71421.shtml

Add almonds and chopped apricots to rice when you serve the Korma - delicious!

  • I'm hoping you wonderful ladies (and gents) can give me some ideas here. I've decided to try not to do any food shopping until the end of the month as we have plenty in the cupboards and freezer that for whatever reason (laziness?) doesn't get eaten. Obviously, I'll buy bread and milk as and when I need it, but want to take it easy on everything else.

    Cupboards:
    Cans of baked beans
    Cans of garden peas
    Packet of spaghetti
    Packet of penne pasta
Packet of white long grain rice
    Salt
    Pepper
    Stock cubes
    Gravy granules
    Tin of tuna
    Jar of Cabanara sauce
    Plain flour
    Caster Sugar
    Cornflour
    Marmite
    Jam
    Various out of date biscuits
    Vanilla escence
    Sage
    Sack of potatoes
    Bread
    Garlic Puree

    Fridge:
    Carrots
    Tomatoes
    Radishes
    Apples
    Onions
    Chedder cheese
    Tomato puree
    Eggs
    Milk
    Margerine

    Freezer:
    Beef mince
    Steak pieces
    Cooked turkey
    Bread
    Burgers
    Sausages
    Pork steaks
    Green beans
    Caulifour
    Cooked prawns
    Frozen bolognese sauce

Looking at the list, there's a lot there, so why it doesn't get eaten is beyond me - must be laziness! Anyway, tonight we're having turkey soup and toast, so this plan will be starting tomorrow.

The cooked turkey is frozen into individual sandwich bags, so I'm going to defrost a bag a day to go in sandwiches for lunch.

I'm going to defrost the bolognese sauce for dinner tomorrow night with pasta.

I've also decided to make a cabanora with the sauce following the recipe on the jar.

I purchased a slow cooker today (very excited about this!) so I'm going to do a sausage casserole in it and also dice the pork steaks up to do a pork one.

I was also thinking of doing a shepherds pie with the mince. The burgers are going to be shoved in a pan with baked beans and onion, unhealthy but lovely!

Any other suggestions from anyone for something to use up all of these? The OH is a fussy eater, though I'm not really (apart from eggs, ew!) All suggestions sweet and savory would be appreciated!

    Thanks!
