Hiya
TBH I didnt like it anyway. I found it quite dry and even added a knob of butter to the top when cooking itOH loves stuffing but didnt like it either.
It is fine with the chicken (we dont eat pork either). You may like it though.
I normally just buy the smart price stuffing from asda (17p a pack) and that tastes lovely and is moist. Think I was just surprised that a dearer Paxo mix didnt taste good  Anyway, at least it was another item used in my rotunda..lol.
Hope you like it.

I have been making my own stuffing recently its sooo easy don't know why I didn't do it before. My mums recipe:
A load of breadcrumbs (normally freeze dry old scraps of bread, crusts etc until I need them for this) Don't need to be crumbed just torn is fine
1 small onion finely chopped
2 tsp mixed herbs
1 egg
maybe a dash of milk depending on how dry the bread was
mix all ingredients together and mash with a fork until bread is broken down and everything is well combined
shape into balls with your hands (or an egg cup is quite a nice size)
stick in the oven round the chicken for 45 mins-ish
Easily adaptable to suit your tastes- I tried lemon and walnut before and that worked really well, lovely and crunchy.
But sometimes there is nothing to beat a gold old paxo, especially with turkey I think!0 -

Hiya
Have just sorted through rotunda and have found the following that need using:
2 bags of shredded coconut
3 bags of mixed fruit
Chopped Nuts
Large jar of mincemeat
2 tins of black treacle
1 tin of golden syrup
2 packs marzipan
Big box of icing sugar
2 bags of soft brown sugar
1 bag of dark muskavado sugar
Have all other basics like flour, marg, eggs etc etc-but dont know why i bought the above items as i never use them...lol. My sister sometimes makes coconut rock cakes, but i dont know the recipe but think it was very basic. I need items that will freeze well if possible. There is a mixed fruit cake mix for the BM that I may try after OH has finished doing his pizza bases??
Any suggestions?
The items need using up and some are very slightly out of date-but should be ok to cook and freeze
Sorry you didnt like that Paxo-but it was truly awful..wasnt it-so dry!!
Thanks all

Looks like a you could use up a fair few of those things in variations on Christmas Cake and even Christmas Pud (Saint Delia has good recipes for both that you could adapt)
The dark sugars would make strong tasting toffee...?
Mince pies? They're not just for Christmas
Look up Microwave Sponge Pudding in the Old Style Recipe Collection and make coconut ones or nutty ones...?

hi PP
some ideas - i hope they help.
The coconut could be used as a topping on a normal victoria sponge. Bake and Ice as normal and then sprinkle the coconut on top, before icing has set.WOuld also use some of the icing sugar
fruit, nuts and golden syrup could be used with porridge oats to make yummy cereal bars.
mincemeat - save an use in christmas mince pies in a couple of months ???
I have the sugar problem too. Someone suggested that I use it as the basis of a HM body scrub as christmas pressies. There are recipes on this site somewhere - try squeaky's index. Perhaps your DD would enjoy this activity??
Best of luck PPr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Make gingerbread cake with the dark sugar, treacle and syrup - YUM! I can post a recipe once I get home if you are interested, even the kids love it.0
