Nicki... have you just moved ??
I only ask, because, surely "testing" the local chippy is a way of maintaining your sanity...
If you "test" it now, you will know if its any good or not.
If you wait for a year, you will always wonder "I wonder what that chippy is like..... "
Thus dementing yourself unnessicarily for the whole time ;)

No I haven't just moved :o I've lived in this area (litereally within a couple of streets) for 30 years apart from a brief 5 years when my parents moved to a bigger house, but even then I still hung around here :rotfl: I've been going to that chippy for about 20 years :o Its honestly going to be a treat for me as last night I was so sore & aching from decorating & assembling flatpacks that I only just made it into bed before falling asleep.

I've homed my freezer, and now its got to sit in situ for 4 hours before I turn it on. First though I need to wash it down. Its filthy. Also need to figure out how I'm going to arrange the fridge, desk & shoe rack. Fortunately there is still plenty of available slots on the Asda website so I can order a delivery to fill them up (baking can wait this time... I promised myself a trip to town shopping for me before DD comes back ;) ).

    Breakfast - jam on toast
Lunch - either cous cous or sausage butty
Tea - not decided yet. ;)
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

Ahhhhhhhhh.... sorry, I thought that you had just moved :o

In that case, a visit to the chippy can be put down as quality control.
You have to make sure they are still a good chippy, and have the pleasure of your custom ;)

Nuala - I hope your mouses get the hint and go away soon. I'm quite fond of them, personally, but definitely not in the house!

Thanks! They actually are very cute but the sudden movement scares the bejaysus out of me! I just hope they keep a low profile when I'm cooking later!

Please do - I think we're all in much the same situation on this thread. (I made a carrot cake over the weekend and intended to freeze half of it, then discovered there's no room in the freezer. So I'm eating it instead - well, I have to put it somewhere! :p:o)

No moving here just yet - I had my ex move out in March last year, and then I started an OU course and have been working none stop ever since! I literally finished my year one studies 2 weeks ago, and since I do voluntary work in a school full time (school & afterschool gossip time only ;) ) this is the first chance I've had to really attack the house full force :D My plan is to get the house sorted before Decemeber and then get everything fully stocked food wise ready for me starting my next lot of courses in January (24 hours a week they reckon  ) so we can live on something other than take-away and chippy and then maybe I might be able to shift the 2 stone I've put on this past 2 years :o

Anyway, just switched my new fridge & freezer on... I'm looking forward to being able to actually make jellies up in individual pots (great for my packed lunches) as actually put them in the fridge instead of putting them on a tray and then in the fridge as my old one had wire shelves and my new one has glass shelves :D Also plenty of room to put fruit, stuff to defrost, and leftovers - something I couldn't do previously. Hoping to keep my freezer well stocked as well - I am dedicating the bottom drawer to ice-creams :p Only ever been able to keep 1 tub if I was lucky in there as they were wired baskets and stuff was constantly falling through them or sticking out and getting jammed, new ones are solid :D:j:j Is it possible to fall inlove with applicances? :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi GreenandThrifty - sounds like you've plenty there to use up. I like the sound of the mystery green soup!

CCP, if you need any help with carrot cake or anything chocolatey you can't find room for feel free to pass it over here!:D

I've just had a tuna and pasta thing - used up one tin of tuna, a jar of pasta sauce and some pasta and grated a bit of mature cheddar on top. It was really nice but I ate too much I think.:o There's plenty for tomorrow too.

I'd happily send you a bit of cake if I could work out how to stop it getting squashed and stale en route. If I get anything chocolately for Christmas you can definitely have, though - I can't stand chocolate. _pale_

GreenandThrifty - you'll definitely be very welcome on this thread as another purveyor of 'freezer surprise', with your mystery green soup and possible mash. :)

My first thoughts on your list are:
    • Vege hotdogs + corn on the cob + cheesy baked potatoes for Bonfire Night / Halloween meal - even if you haven't got an actual bonfire you can pretend! :D
    • Puff pastry + chicken + roux + veg = chicken and veg pie
    • One of your curries + coriander + wraps (or rice if you prefer)
    • The mash (if it is mash ;)) with beef and onion pasties and veg, or used to thicken soup made with your stock and some of your frozen veg
I'm sure there will be more ideas, and probably more inventive than mine, too!
Back after a very long break!
