Well i've made a MASSIVE banana cake with my 4 turning banana's normally i'd just ue 3 for a loaf, but i just increased all the ingredients abit and added raisins and mixed fruit, turned out quite well till i dropped it.. eek. Luckiliy it didn't fall out of the tin and go on the floor but it did break into several bits.. poop  oh well im sure it will taste fine.
Why dont you maybe do a lucky dip night from the freezer for tomorrows night dinner. Then you clear a good few spaces and make room for more? ALternative, could you have it tomorrow night with baked potatoes and cheese melted? Yum. Or spicy home made potato wedges? Or you could do souffle potatoes. Bake and scoop out inside, keeping outsides intact. Separately whisk up an egg white until light a fluffy. Fold into potato mixture along with maybe spring onions or peppers and some cheese (adaptable - depending on supply and taste)? Mash it all up, add salt and pepper (and spices if you like). Scoop misture back into each potato skin. Put cheese on top and bake for about ten pr fiften minutes - when cheese brown and bubbly. I have made these and i can honestly say they are gorgeeous! My friend has went on about them ever since. SMoked bacon is nice in too.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Due to a change in circumstances at home, Ive been not shopping and just eating what I can find in the cupboards and freezer!
So if you are finding things tight at the moment (who isnt!) then I challenge you to do the same.
Examples of my last week:
Lunch:
Cous Cous/Leftover Rice with whatever bits you can find
Home made soup
Soup from a tin in the cupboard
A portion of lasagne which I froze ages ago
Evening:
Chilli from teh freezer
Salmon Fillet + Veg from the freezer
Chinese stir fry using Frozen Beef
Sausages from the freezer + mash
Things ill be having this week:
Quorn chilli
Pasta with Bacon and some jar of sauce from the cupboard
Something with Lamb
I reckon I can go for at leats another 2 more weeks without buying anything from the shop!0 -
there seems to be alot of people dong this, this month i know i am... things have gone horribly wrong in my house so i've got £33 for the rest of the month and a family of 4 to feed plus 3 pets.. eeek.
So yea this month is "living on what we have" type month, using the £33 for essentials ONLY .. which includes about £15 worth of pet food... bah.0 -

As this has fallen from the front page of Old Style, I'll add it to the existing thread that thriftlady refers to

My boyfriend is normally the cook in our house because i'm pretty rubbish at it!
In a moment of madness I said I would cook us dinner tonight but i can't think what to make! I don't really want to buy anything so was wondering if anyone had any simple ideas out of what we have in the cupboards. It's just for the 2 of us.
Frozen mince
2 frozen turkey breast steaks (quite small though)
Whole bag of potatoes
Big block of cheddar cheese
Lots of sausages
1 onion
tins of chopped tomatoes
baked beans
carrots
eggs
and that's about it other than flour etc!
Any ideas? I don't really want to make cottage pie as he makes that quite often and mine wont be nearly as good as his!0
