leilea, you seem to have plenty in your cupboards :T so lasting until payday should be do-able ;) Now that this thread has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the main storecupboard challenge thread - the experts there will give you loads more help :T

Oh thanks for the cake recipe, would you make that in a big tin?? loaf tin?? I was thinking of making cakes since i've got all the ingredients and they will be good to fill out lunch box's etc.

The bean recipe looks great too those dried beans have been in my cuboard forever, i bought them and never quite worked out what to do with them, the others look good too thanks for some great idea's :)

    Hi,

I make it in a loaf tin and cut it into slices, but there's no reason I can think of why you couldn't make cupcakes. You can use plain or selfraising flour dependant on the texture you like.

The bean recipe is a very cool standby. You can chuck in bacon bits, sausage, leftover chicken. Its all good! Someone on here likes to use basil instead of thyme and oregano, so play about with the flavours your family likes.

If your dried beans include kidney beans, you'll need to give them a good boil to kill the toxins, there's a thread on it here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1146643&highlight=kidney+toxin

    Happy to help!

OH has gone out overnight and I am home alone :(

We didn;t make it to Tesco earlier so I don;t have a lot in and can;t go shopping on my own cos I'm pregnant and I can;t lift all the bags.

So, I have a few bits and pieces and wondered what I could make that is quick and tasty?

    I have:
leftover crispy duck from last night (meat only)
    sausages
    onions
    vegetables - courgettes and peppers
    tinned toms
    bread rolls in freezer
    spices and herbs
    flour, etc. in cupboard

It's not a lot! What can I make?

Well i've made a MASSIVE banana cake with my 4 turning banana's normally i'd just ue 3 for a loaf, but i just increased all the ingredients abit and added raisins and mixed fruit, turned out quite well till i dropped it.. eek. Luckiliy it didn't fall out of the tin and go on the floor but it did break into several bits.. poop  oh well im sure it will taste fine.

Made tea tonight decided to go with http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Easy_Chicken_Supper_With_Chickpeas_and_Tomatoes.aspx
didn't have the spices that were supposed to go in it, so i just flung in abit of everything, i altered the amounts abit threw a few more chickpea's in and an extra tin of toms, extra carrots and onions.

Spilt it into 3 portions before dividing the chicken bettween them. (so i don't reheat the chicken multiple times) me and the kids have eaten the smallest portion with rice, but i now have 2 huge tubs sitting on my counter cooling and no freezer space... grr  i've had a root and theres just nothing in the freezer i want to remove right now, the other chicken is taking up the most space but i dont want to eat chicken twice in a row?!

Sausage casserole with dumplings (if the flour is self-raising).
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Is there a freezer compartment in your fridge? Or maybe a friend you can ask to store it for you?
