Hello everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.:T

  • Morning all,

I have a big fat red for last week. I am not too sure how much I spend but lets say I well and truely smashed the budget figure. Not sure where it all went wrong this month. The first 3.5 weeks went well then the last week of the month money seems to be slipping through my fingers

OK I am setting £20 for thie week (should really be zero but no point being unrealistic:rolleyes:) Payday is on Thursday (finally) and I am going out for dinner with a friend but not including that in this challenge.

    Good luck everyone else.

    Howdy Tixy,

OK I am going to have to ask as it has puzzled me for sometime. Why is that your weekly budgets always have the same amount of pounds as pence?

I've already spent £8 on drinks last night (I'd already drawn out my £20 note- so I'm counting it), spent some of my present fund today on stuff to create a hamper, no more spends planned til Thursday (yay payday) and I'll probably only buy an ice cream- so should have no probs sticking to £12 this week- good luck all

    Hi all!

pointypenguin can you green me up please - I managed to spend just £25.20 last week! Woop woop!

This week can you put me down for £35 again please - it seems to be a realistic figure for me to stick too - when I pledged £10, as soon as I exceeded it, I went on a spending spree!

    Have a good week everyone!

Well as stupid as it sounds - it helps me remember what budget I have set myself, doesn't often seem to stop me exceeding it though :o

  • Well I did not end up leaving the house today so no spending for me.

I made two important discoveries this weekend. 1) You can make pork cheeks into a rather yummy dinner 2) Beating a pillow with a rolling pin gets rid of lumps.

I feel I need to get out more:p

I hope the rest of you budgeteers have had a rather more exciting weekend than me.
