Hi,
I'm new here. I'm wondering if any of you lovely people can offer me any advice.
I'm 28, am on the electoral roll and have NO defaults. I have been working inthe same job for over 12 months, and I privatly rent and have lived at the same property for a year.
The only credit I have and have ever had is a fairly new capital one card with a £200 limit. I pay this off either in full or in part each month and have never missed a payment. I also have a (low cost) contract with vodafone and a £100 overdraft on my current account with Natwest who I have banked with for the last 6 years.
I have recently applied for credit, as my job pays weekly which is a pain and doesn't allow for me to make purchases for holidays/furniture without having to save, which isn't always convenient.0 -
I have applied for credit through my bank, althoguh apparently they're giving to no one. And have applied for another credit card but got decline.
I have checked my reports on both experian and equifax and neither of them show anything bad. I then checked my score on experian out of interest as I ws curious as to why I had been declined, on recomended ards, and it is showing as 680; Poor.
I'm at a loss as to why it is poor and only assume it is due to the fact that my previous job was paid monthly and I was able to make purchases in one go.
Please advise me as to who I can approach or what steps I can take to improve my situation.0 -

Hi what advice do you want? you have asked for advice, given us your situation then not said what you want advice on! I assume , correct me if wrong, that you want to know what cc you can apply for?
I would say try the likes of vanquis, aqua etc but your limits would be small to start with, and you say you cant /not convenient to save so i imagine you would leave a balance on teh card each month, which on the interest rates they charge would mean lots of interest.
so...Maybe your own bank as you have held account for 6 yrs.
Sygma seem to be good at the moment..maybe worth applying?
others will be along shortly to advise too, oh and welcome to MSE!!0 -

Hi,
Sorry I followed up with a second post, a few minutes after my first one with the rest of the info.
I haven't heard of Sygma, I'll google them now.
I just want advice really on how I can improve my score so that in the future if there is an emergency situation I can get the funding if I need to. I don't actually want a credit card to buy anything on. The only reason I have a balance at the minute is that I made a purchase a month ago and since then have had family to stay from the states so have been eating out etc more often than usual.
I find being paid weekly difficult when it comes to making purchases of things like furniture, and would rather do it and pay it off in a couple of weeks than wait a few weeks until I get it.
I usually don't want new things, until the old ones need replacing.0 -

+1 applying for a Sygma Silver. They seem to give 'em out like candy. Both myself and my mother were approved for two sygma cards this year all with £1,000 limits and neither of us have sterling credit histories. Well worth a puntCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

That matters little mate - they can see the account history and pending items, the same as you can! Click "My Accounts" go into that account and then sleect pending transactions from the left and it'll show you your salary! remember when you go to 1st, you lose this facility as they do not have it (bizzarely)....
