They can and do.
They allocate a Sortcode and Acc No then if you fail the credit score you get knocked back. :cool:

My credit file is not perfect but it's alright, one old default sitting there on it. Lots of green 0 recently.

It's probably best to say no to that, then ask for one later - it means the score is lower, so there is more chance you will be taken. e.g. if the required score with an overdraft is 860 and without is 800, if your "score" is 820 then you would get the one without (and can ask for a overdraft later on) but wouldn't get it after saying you wanted it straight up. Those numbers are made up by the way, each company scores differently and nobody knows exactly how they score - hence CRA scores being useless

Who's the account with? Halifax put my account in online banking but it says "application decision" underneath the account number, clicking that told me to check in a week - when I checked it now says decline. If you're Halifax and it's the same then click that, it might say check back later (meaning it's been referred) or might say straight accept/decline....
